Principal's Message
There are several events taking place that show that spring is upon us.
* Registration continues with our second of three lessons taking place this week
* Our dual credit meeting took place last Thursday
* Spring sports (baseball, softball, track & field, boys golf, girls golf, boys soccer) will start on March 22nd
* Spring conferences will take place for identified students on March 30th
One not-so-common event is O'Connor Photography coming to take our school photos this week. They will be here on March 15th and 17th.
More information about all of these events is included in this newsletter along with other information to help navigate school. If you have any questions or comments, please call me at 360-398-8111 or email me at dforbes@meridian.wednet.edu.
Stay safe. Stay healthy. Go Trojans!

Registration Update
This week in Homeroom, every student will receive a Registration worksheet for next school year. Please spend some time having a conversation about what classes either fill graduation requirements or lead to their college and career goals. The Registration worksheet needs to be brought back to school the following week so that the students can load their course requests into the computer. Parents, we genuinely would like for you to place your signature on the form so we know that you are aware of the classes your kids are choosing.
Our Course Catalog for the coming school year and many other pieces of information can be found on the high school website under Registration Materials
https://www.meridian.wednet.edu/mhs/blog/2021/03/08/registration-materials/
If Running Start is your choice, there is information available on the website as well.

Grade 10 Students and Families
It is time for registration again! Tenth grade is a time for important decision making. At MHS we have two diploma types: College Ready (4 year college) and Personal Plan (matches their career interest). The diploma type chosen brings different class choices. The College Ready Plan means a student will be taking 2 consecutive years of a world language and a quantitative science or math class their senior year if they have not already completed Pre-Calculus. If the student's plan is to get a job right away or attend a 2 year college and they do not plan to take 2 credits of a world language they need to take 2 credits of coursework that connect to a career interest in place of the world language classes.
Tenth grade is also a time a student needs to review or consider their graduation pathway, another graduation requirement. One's graduation pathway choice may also be dependent on what courses a student is registering for. Please see the registration information posted on the high school website for further information regarding graduation pathways.
If you or your student has any questions regarding graduation requirements please reach out to your school counselor.

Dual Credit / Running Start Meeting
A number of students and parents/guardians attended our dual credit meeting last Thursday evening. It is important for any current sophomores and juniors who are interested in running start that both they and a parent/guardian watch the video and then fill out the student interest form. The video, resources, and student interest form are all found on our website:

Student Late Arrival and Early Pick Up
If you need to pick up your student early from school for an appointment or other reason, please call the MHS office at (360)398-8111. We will get your student for you, have them check out in the office, then send them out to your car.
Thank you for helping to keep our school safe!
RALF
RALF stands for Remote Attendance Learning Form and is required for all students to complete on their non-campus days. This would be the two days their cohort is assigned to be home and on Fridays.
Each teacher has a link to the RALF in their google classroom. We have also provided a link here to the google form. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfTR8ZCRJJKcx4dr5OirHXt_MMjq-7DfyMeuwMeZYsgarna0A/viewform .
Students need to fill out the form for each class they are currently taking. The form needs to be filled out before noon each day to count as being present in classes. If not completed by noon, the student is marked absent for that class period. Students do not need to fill one out for Homeroom as that class is only offered in person.
REMINDER ABOUT ATTENDANCE
Being present in class is vital to be successful in school. We want to encourage all of our students to be at school every day! If you are missing school, you are missing out on learning!
