October Newsletter
A Note from Mr. Larsen
Hello, KMMS Families,
Thank you all for a terrific start to the school year. I sincerely appreciate the time and attention from families in ensuring students have a successful start to the school year. Our students have done an excellent job of settling into the routines of KMMS and displaying the 4 Be's (Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Engaged). Thank you for your continued partnership with Kasson-Mantorville Middle School.
Student Pick-Up and Drop-Off
I want to take a moment and communicate my expectations for families who pick up or drop off their child(ren). It is imperative that families take right turns out of the KMMS parking lot. In doing so, it avoids congestion and long lines of people waiting for a person taking a left turn onto 5th Ave NE. Right turns must be taken from 7:30-8:00 am and 3:00-3:30 pm. I am also working with transportation and facilities and grounds to obtain more signage so it is clearly marked and displayed.
I understand this may be inconvenient for some; however, this is done to avoid congestion in the middle school lot and ensure students can safely enter school. Thank you for making safety a priority at KMMS.
Grade 6 Eagle Bluff
This is a friendly reminder to all Grade 6 families that our annual trip to Eagle Bluff will be held on Monday, November 4 to Wednesday, November 6. If you are interested in chaperoing, please contact your child's teachers. If so, please make sure you complete the background check and pay the fee. You can access the fee via IC and follow these steps here.
Homecoming Week
It is a great time to be a KoMet. I always enjoy the fall weather and the festivities of Homecoming at KMMS. I have included some important dates and times for families.
- KMMS Dress-Up Days (See image below)
- KM Homecoming Parade - Friday at 10:00 AM
- KMHS Homecoming Volleyball - Friday at 1:00 PM (Communication will be sent soon)
- KMHS Homecoming Football - Friday at 7:00 PM
Student Phones
Students have done a terrific job of keeping their phones in their lockers doing the school day. I sincerely appreciate that students can come to school and focus on the learning that occurs in the classroom. If you have a note or message to share with your child, do not hesitate to reach out to Ms. Sally or Ms. Emily.
Thank you again for your continued support of KMMS. Should you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact me at j.larsen@komets.k12.mn.us or 507-634-4030. Go KoMets!
Together in KoMet Pride,
Josh Larsen, Principal
