⭐ Wall of Honor ⭐
The Unionville-Chadds Ford School District recently inducted three new members to the UCFSD Wall of Honor. Franki Burch from the Class of 1976, Jon Cox from the Class of 1993, and Martin Christensen from the Class of 2001 were inducted during a Wall of Honor Celebration on October 6, 2023 at Unionville High School. As part of the Wall of Honor Program, the new inductees visited with Unionville High School students in their classes to share their story. This was an incredible opportunity for students to hear firsthand from the inductees and learn about their journey and success. Following the classroom visits, they stopped by the physical Wall of Honor located in the high school, where the inductees' plaques are on display and will remain on display for one year. Later that evening, the inductees rode in the Centennial Parade and attended an onfield reception during Unionville’s Homecoming football game where they were also recognized at halftime. This prestigious award recognizes exceptional alumni who have achieved great success and contributed so much to society since graduating from Unionville High School.

UHS Named to AP Honor Roll Recognition
Congratulations to Unionville High School for being named to the 2023 AP School Honor Roll! The UHS Class of 2023 had 64% of seniors who took at least one AP exam during high school, 58% of seniors scoring a three or higher on at least one AP exam, and 25% of seniors who took five or more AP exams!
The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools that have done outstanding work to welcome more students into AP courses and support them on the path to college success.
Research shows students who take AP courses and exams are more likely to attend college and graduate on time. The students who enter four-year colleges with credit from AP accelerate their path to graduation and build confidence for college success. And even for those who don’t earn college credit, AP coursework provides early exposure to college-level work and contributes to a college-going school culture.
Thank you to our dedicated teachers, counselors, administrators, and parents for making AP access and success a priority!
UHS Ranked No. 307 by U.S. News & World Report
Unionville High School has been ranked No. 307 in the nation among the 2023-2024 Best High Schools by U.S. News & World Report. The rankings evaluate more than 17,600 schools at the national, state and local level. Unionville was also ranked No. 6 in Pennsylvania and No. 117 in STEM High Schools in the nation.
“This is the highest national ranking that Unionville High School has received. This doesn’t happen by accident - it is the result of having the best educators leading instruction, an engaged Board that supports academic achievement, a challenging and diversified curriculum, and a hard-working community of learners who make us proud every day. This is a great achievement that our community can be proud of!” - Dr. John Sanville, UCFSD Superintendent
U.S. News & World Report’s methodology focuses on six indicators of school quality: college readiness; breadth of curriculum; scores on state proficiency tests; performance in reading, math, and science; underserved student performance; and graduation rates.

Paralympic Medalist Inspires Elementary Students
Students at Unionville Elementary School and Pocopson Elementary School welcomed Chris Waddell to their schools September 28 and 29. Mr. Waddell, a Paralympic medalist, has an incredible journey to share. In 1988, he faced a life-changing skiing accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Remarkably, in 2009, Mr. Waddell achieved a historic feat by becoming the first nearly unassisted paraplegic to conquer Mt. Kilimanjaro. This remarkable achievement was documented in the award-winning film "One Revolution." Mr. Waddell spoke to our students and answered questions as part of his Nametags program. It was an inspiring presentation for our students as he left them with his message: “It’s not what happens to you. It’s what you do with what happens to you.”
