Positivity Project - Teamwork
This week, our school community will focus on the character strength of Teamwork. Teamwork means you work well as a member of a group or team. You are loyal, reliable, and dedicated to helping your team achieve its goals.
Teamwork involves prioritizing group success. Those strong in teamwork help all group members succeed, committing time and resources to the group's goals. They often delay personal accomplishments to ensure the group's overall success, which fosters positive feelings and counters selfishness and egotism.
For individuals, teamwork often means deferring or delaying individual accomplishments in order to ensure that the group maintains a high level of success. Their commitment to the larger group effort makes them good teammates. The positive feelings associated with being part of a larger whole — can be highly beneficial and combat selfishness and egotism.
To practice and encourage the character strength of teamwork at home, please visit the Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families. There, you will watch a video clip together and discuss a quote and three questions related to teamwork.
Thank you for your continued support!
Booster!
Our PTA is working toward their goal for our Matey-Move-a-thon!
The funds raised sponsor our cultural arts programs. Our 5th graders will work on their legacy project with an artist in residency. We are working to schedule a STEM activity night. The funds also provide support to our teachers, purchase items for curriculum, and help in many other ways.
Families are welcome to join students during the Matey-Move-a-thon this year. Please join us on the side playground.

PTA Financial Facts
We are in the middle of our biggest fundraiser of the year right now! There are some things we want you to know...
In years past, we have raised money and picked an additional project to use some funds to support. (Like our rock wall that was installed last year.) Though we talked about those big projects most during the fundraisers, the majority of money raised goes to our PTA operating budget. As costs have increased for everyone, we are trying to maintain all we have supported in the past, while adding more as we can.
We understand that if you don't spend a lot of time working with our budget, you might not be aware of all the things PTA pays for each year. We have a goal to be as transparent as possible and we'd love to let you know more about what we're funding!
Positivity Project - Starting this year, our PTA is now paying for The Positivity Project. This cost is $6,500 annually and is a part of each child's education every day!
Teacher Support - Each classroom teacher is given $200 and each specialist (music, art, PE, etc.) is given $500 each year from the PTA to pay for school needs! This adds up to over $7,000.
We provide a meal each month to show teachers & staff our appreciation. This adds up to another $6,000 each year.We supported staff this year by ordering them embroidered polo shirts. That cost was about $1,200.
Cultural Arts & 5th Grade Legacy Project - Cultural Arts is a committee within the PTA that brings in new opportunities for students each year and PTA pays $4,000 towards those costs. We also pay for artists to come create the legacy project with 5th graders to leave a lasting mark within the school, which costs $8,000.
Potential Projects - We are looking forward to wrapping up Boosterthon to see how much our school has raised. Once we make sure our operating budget is covered for the year, we have new ideas of things we'd like to bring to Buckhorn Creek! These ideas cannot be finalized without knowing exactly how much money will be raised so we haven't advertised them yet!
Science Day & Night: We would love to bring in a team to have a hands-on Science Day and Science Family Night! Each grade would be focusing on grade level targets in science. At the Family Night, families could come and explore science stations with their children. The cost would be around $3,000 to accommodate all students.
Book Vending Machine: The PTA would love to add a book vending machine to our school and fill it with books for all ages. This would be used as an incentive for students to earn picking a free book. This cost would be over $10,000.
Beautification: We would love to add more murals and warmth to our school! We added a custom mural to our cafeteria this summer ($800) and have goals to continue them in other areas of the school.
Thank you - Thank you for supporting BCES! Without your support, our school wouldn't be able to do all it does. We are so proud of everything Buckhorn Creek does for its students and staff and we're honored to help. By supporting the PTA, you're supporting our students.

Parent and Student Lunch!
Please only select ONE time period per family. This allows two families an option each day to have lunch with their children.
We are excited to offer the opportunity for parents and visitors to have lunch with students once again. However, in order to ensure safety, manage space limitations, and to ensure the process is successful we must maintain guidelines and expectations for logistics. Please read the expectations and logistics on the sign up.
