Greetings Jacket Family!
Greetings, Jacket Parents!
We have arrived at the end of March, which is quite the pivotal time for us here at BHS! As a school, we are looking at this next three week stretch with some thoughts in mind that we would like to share with you all as parents.
This next three weeks is our 3rd quarter, meaning 20% of your student's final grade is up for grabs. That's a big chunk! During this time, students can often begin to feel the stress and pressures that can come with being a high school student. Continue to encourage your student and talk to them about their classes! Create attainable goals for your student to strive for in those classes! By next week Friday, every student will have the opportunity to do this at school, but one thing we encourage students to do with their goals is to share them with a parent and their peers. "Roping up" can be helpful when striving for a goal because it forces your student to be accountable not only to themselves, but also to you! Having regular conversations around these goals makes for great dinner table talks. You can even share one of your own personal or work goals so that they can hold you accountable as well!
Prom is also coming up fast! April 12th will be here before you know it, and one of the only exceptions that can stop a student from attending is if they have not been serving their attendance recovery. To help with this, we have set up opportunities for students to serve their time next week from 8-8:35 in the morning and from 4-6 in the afternoon Monday through Thursday. Please encourage your student to attend if they owe time, even if they are not going to prom.
Jacket family, we are quickly approaching the end of this school year. I encourage you all to focus on this next 3 week stint and how you can make the most out of the time we have left. Let's get to spring break by working hard, so that when the opportunity to drop the mic comes, we can do so without stress. Take care and go Jackets!
Upcoming Dates and Events
The Fall 2025 Application for USCL Dual Enrollment is now open. All students who plan to take Dual Enrollment classes must submit this application, even if they completed an application for the 2024-2025 school year. The application deadline is May 15. Students who apply after that date may have to wait until the Spring 2026 semester to take classes. Students can visit the USCL Dual Enrollment tab of the BHS Guidance website or see the message in their grade level Google classroom for the application link.
Nurses' Notes
Parents,
We have a lot of sickness this time of year. Currently, we are seeing COVID, Flu and Stomach viruses. Please do not send your child to school if they are running a fever (or have had a fever within the last 24 hours). Please do not send your child to school if they are vomiting. I have had several students come to the nursing office before going to their 1st block class because they are sick. If they are too sick to make it to class at 8:45am, they are too sick for you to send them to school. Please keep them home and call the nursing office. 803-286-7042
