The Weekly Roar

August 1, 2024
Hello River Bend Families!
Well, it's officially August so I guess it's time to get serious about this whole back to school thing:-) This comes to you a day early because I am taking one last vacation day tomorrow.
The building is starting to come together as construction inside has wrapped up; ceiling tiles are back up, everything has been dusted and vacuumed. Teachers will begin coming in to set up their learning spaces and August 19th will be here before you know it!
I try my best to chunk communication so those who are new don't become overwhelmed with information. This week, I am just focusing on ARRIVAL.
Bus Riders: Please be patient for the first few days as bus routes can sometimes run a little behind.
Car Riders: We have specific car line procedures to keep kids safe. There are a lot of students who arrive by car. Pay attention and follow the instructions of the staff members you will see standing by a cone on the sidewalk next to the building. Please don't let your child out of the car on their own. We open the car doors and make certain the students are on the sidewalk and make it into the building. Please don't get out of the car. We keep it moving:-) Car riders enter through the gym doors on the side of the building.
Walkers: Please use the crosswalk and wait for Mr. Suad to walk across with the stop sign to cross safely. Walkers go to the front porch and enter through the main front doors.
Bike Riders: Bikes should be walked from the crosswalk to the bike rack that is next to the tree just inside the main drive. Bike riders also go to the front porch and enter through the main front doors.
The bell rings and students enter the building at 8:50 AM. There is no supervision before 8:50 AM. If students are eating breakfast at school, they go straight to the cafeteria before going to their classroom. Class begins at 9:05 AM.
Next week I will focus on DISMISSAL.
Lastly, I have added three "buttons" toward the end of this newsletter:
- Parkway Family Resource Guide for 2024-2025
- Visitor and Volunteer Information
- Free and Reduced Meals Information
They will remain embedded in the newsletter every week and I will add a few more over the next couple of weeks.
Until next week...
Each child as my own,
Jaime
A little about our Assistant Principal, Dr. Brandon Schulte...
Hi everyone! I am entering my 16th year in education, and 5th year serving as the Assistant Principal for the River Bend community. My wife is a nurse for Mercy in the surgery center, and we have three beautiful children. Jacob (11) is entering 6th grade and his first year of middle school. Julianna (8) will be in third grade, and Jonathan (5) begins Kindergarten this fall. I finished my doctoral degree in Educational Leadership through Maryville University last December, and if I'm not at school, you can probably find me on a youth sports sideline. I adore watching my kids do what they love and follow their passions.
I enjoying fitness, baseball, soccer, reading, and spending time with my family. They love to attend our school and PTO sponsored events.
HEART, ENERGY, COMMITMENT EMPOWERMENT...these 4 words fuel my work each day. I hope to help inspire your child to do amazing things this year.I can't wait to see everyone soon!
It is the little things that make a BIG difference.
-Brandon
