The Hurricane Watch December 2024
CMS Families,
The holidays are quickly approaching, but we have so much to accomplish in the next 10 school days. Please ensure your student is present each day!
Important Dates:
- Mid-terms: 12/18 and 12/19 (These will not be administered early, so it’s crucial your student is present on these days.)
- Winter Chorus Concert: 12/17
- Band Concert: 12/19
We can’t wait to watch our students perform!
If you haven’t already, please make sure to fill out our CKH Family Survey https://iheartckh.com/squrl/wmjdhsge.
We’ve had an awesome first semester and are looking forward to seeing what our second semester holds!
Go Canes,
Mrs. Montgomery
Attendance Reminders:
· School starts promptly at 8:20 AM. Students must be seated by this time to avoid being marked tardy. To ensure a smooth start to the day, please plan for your child to arrive by 8:15 AM. This allows enough time for them to reach their hallway, visit their locker, and get to class. Thank you for your cooperation!
· Accumulating six unexcused tardies will result in an after-school detention. (Please see handbook for valid excuse reasons.)
· Parents can write notes to excuse up to four days per semester. (This includes tardies, check-outs, and absences.)
· If your child is absent for more than two consecutive days, a medical excuse is required.

Happy Holidays CMS Families!!!
The holiday season is a special time, but it can also bring some stress for both parents and children. Here are some tips to help everyone manage the holiday hustle and enjoy the season together:
1. Plan Ahead
Create a Schedule: Work together to jot down important dates and activities to avoid last-minute chaos.
Set Realistic Expectations: Remember, it's okay if everything isn't perfect. Enjoy the moments as they come.
2. Prioritize Self-Care
Take Breaks: Both parents and kids should take some "me time," even if it's just a few quiet minutes with a book or a favorite activity.
Stay Active: A little physical activity can do wonders for reducing stress and lifting spirits. Go for a walk, play a sport, or try a fun workout together.
3. Work as a Team
Delegate Tasks: Share holiday preparations. Delegate the tasks of decorating, cooking, and/or wrapping gifts. It's a great way to bond and teach responsibility.
Open Communication: Have open chats about how everyone is feeling and listen to each other's concerns. It's important to support each other.
4. Maintain Healthy Habits
Balanced Diet: Try to keep meals balanced, even with all the holiday treats around. Enjoy the goodies, but don't forget the veggies!
Sleep Routine: Stick to a regular sleep schedule to keep everyone well-rested and happy.
5. Focus on What Matters
Family Time: Cherish the time spent together as a family, rather than stressing over gifts. Plan fun activities that everyone enjoys.
Gratitude: Encourage everyone to reflect on what they're grateful for during this special time. Sharing these thoughts can bring you closer together.
By keeping these tips in mind, you can help make the holiday season more enjoyable and less stressful for you and your family. Wishing you all a joyful and peaceful holiday season!
As always, please reach out to your grade level counselor if you have any concerns about your student.
