Which Form of Energy
LOOK at this picture:
THINK about what this family is eating for breakfast. What do you like to eat for breakfast?
WRITE in your journal about the forms of energy that are involved in making breakfast. Can you find examples of mechanical, light, sound and heat energy?
You have to use heat energy to cook eggs and bacon. You use mechanical energy to mix up pancake batter or scrambled eggs. There is sound energy made when you cook something because it will make a sizzling sound. Also, when you chew something crunchy, it gives off sound energy. Light energy comes from the light in the microwave and the light in the kitchen. Also, the fire on the stove makes light energy in addition to heat energy.
Power Outage Problems
Sometimes, the power goes out. List as many things as possible that happen during a power outage. What is an alternative way of cooking dinner, entertaining yourself in the evening without a television, or heating or cooling your homes without electrical power?
