Concession Stand Upgrades!
We'd like to say a BIG thank you for the recent upgrades to our concession stand at Marshall Field! If you haven't been there for a game yet this year, join us on Saturday as our boys play a 3-game tournament with Plato and Stoutland beginning at 9:00 a.m. Admission is FREE!
- Thank you to the Little League members who donated their time, work, and the funding to remodel our building! It has new metal siding, a new interior, new counters and sink, new shelving, a new AC unit, and a new microwave. They also purchased a new grill, so come by and try a cheeseburger!
- Thank you to Donnie Abbett at Abbett Enterprises for donating the new refrigerator. We badly needed it!
- Thank you to Booster Club for running the concession stand for the tournament so our students and sponsors can work on floats for the parade. We appreciate you!
We are so fortunate to have such a supportive community. Thank you to all who helped with this project.
Gym Banners
We hosted our first home basketball game this week, and we were excited to show off our new conference signs as we are now part of the Show-Me Central Conference! They look great, and Adam and Ethan did a great job putting them up for us. We're waiting for a printing error to be corrected on one of them, then we will complete our wall.
You may also have noticed we have temporarily taken down the FFA banners. We were running out of wall space, and after conversations with various groups, we have decided we will leave these banners up for 5 years after they are earned, then we will transfer the information to an Agri-Science Award board, which will also be displayed in the gym, and return the banner to the person who earned it. This will allow us to keep honoring our alumni for many years as we continue to add more of these awards for future students. We will have the most current banners back on the wall in the very near future.
We have a similar plan for our MSHSAA activities for which we have won conference, district, and state awards. Some of those banners were removed several years ago, as they were not aging very well, and we would like to return to honoring them by displaying the team, year, and award on a board after leaving the banners up for a number of years.
We are working on both of these projects as we explore funding sources and hope to have them completed before the end of this school year. We are all very proud of our Tuscumbia alumni and current students who work so hard to bring home these awards, and we want to make sure we display that Lion Pride for all to see!
Principal's Corner
Dear Tuscumbia School Community,
What a great, but busy, week of school! I can’t tell you enough how impressed I am seeing what students are learning in their classes. Every student I talked to this week was excited to share what they were learning about in class. I’ve seen students reading, writing, studying for upcoming tests, and engaging in class discussions. I hope students have come home excited to share with you what they are learning, too.
In addition to regular classes, students have been working hard on their floats for Pig ‘N Pickle. Class sponsors should be reaching out to establish a time on Saturday for students to come set up the floats. Students should only be at the school during the designated time established by class sponsors. Just a reminder:
For middle school students, class officers are the only ones who are allowed to ride in the back of the truck. Students are not allowed to walk in the parade. All students can help decorate, but ONLY class officers are in the parade.
For high school students, all students are able to ride on the trailer. Students are not allowed to walk in the parade
The parade will begin at 4pm.
On Friday, October 4, our Kindergarten through 4th grade students will be hosting a Grandparent’s Day event. Elementary teachers should be sending information home about this event, if it hasn’t been sent home already. We do ask that you try to limit attendance to this event to 4 grandparents/great grandparents. We understand that sometimes students have more than 4 grandparents, and we do invite them to attend. We look forward to seeing grandparents in a couple weeks!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out. Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kirtley
Principal
Post on Our Kindness Wall!
Miller County R-III Schools now have a Kindness eWall through YouUpLift.com and Columbia College! This is a digital wall where students, staff, and parents can submit positive, kind messages to others and those messages will appear on the digital wall on a loop. Messages can include pictures, memes, and GIFs. Submitted messages are reviewed by the school before appearing on the digital wall. The Kindness eWall can be viewed by clicking here and to submit a message, you would scroll down the screen to the message box below. We are currently working on linking the eWall to the school website and to run on the TV in the cafeteria so students and staff can see positive messages throughout the day. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Hopkins.
