PTO Membership Drive
Our RMS PTO would love to have you join as a volunteer! They meet the second Tuesday of the month at RMS at noon. Our PTO helps in so many way to make RMS great. They spoil our teachers with meals, help make our Gale Rallies successful, and help chaperone many of our events.
If you have any questions please contact the front office.
This school year, RMS is participating in a school-wide Survivor competition. Students are separated into teams based on their advisory class. Throughout the school year there will be competitions and ways to win points for their teams.
At the end of the nine weeks, one winning team will get a fun-filled prize for ONLY their team. In addition, every student on that winning team will get to enter their name in a drawing for additional prizes.
#RSD READS is LIVE!!!
Our RMS Library reading incentive program is live and ready for students to start participating! Here is how it works!
Students read a novel of their choice and then talk to a staff member about that book, they fill out a book talk slip, and then turn it in to the RMS Librarian.
Each time students complete a book talk, they earn points for their Survivor team! If they read a monthly featured book, they get entered into a raffle to win additional prizes!!
October Student and Employee of the Month
Collins Latch is an exemplary student who works hard on everything she does inside the classroom. Collins's drive extends past her work as she routinely helps others and comes to class each day with a smile and excitement to learn.
Officer Tucker goes above and beyond to ensure that RMS is a safe environment for all students. From routine door checks, to helping students understand his role, he's been vital this school year in his service to RMS. We are so thankful for him!
7th Grade History Day Information
All 7th grade Social Studies Advanced classes will be participating in National History Day (NHD). We are very pleased to have National History Day as part of the 7 th grade curriculum. All of the state literacy standards in social studies will be met through the process of creating an NHD project. Teachers will be working closely with the Media Center Specialist to help students with research. One class each week will be devoted to NHD work. Your student may choose to create an individual or group project in any of the five categories.
When choosing a group project please choose group members wisely. Groups may include 2 – 5 students. Group members MUST work together inside and outside of class from September through February. Word of the Month: Self-Direct
What does it mean to Self-Direct?
Self-Direction is the ability and learned skill to cast a vision of future goals and then take intentional steps toward who, where, and what we want to be. Instead of focusing on things to control or avoid, we emphasize our responsibility to make positive choices related to our emotions, attitudes, and actions.
Why focus on Self-Direction?
- Self-Direction strengthens relationships. Self-Direction helps to grow social skills and develop meaningful, positive relationships with others.
- Self-Direction teaches personal responsibility. Learning to Self-Direct teaches students to take responsibility for their own actions.
- Self-Direction helps us to regulate emotions: Self-Direction empowers students to regulate their impulses and emotional responses to situations and circumstances in their life.
Self-Direction in Action:
- Practice goal setting and action planning. When we establish goals and develop action plans, we learn to take intentional steps to successfully achieve goals.
- Monitor and adjust. Provide students with regular feedback and opportunities to self-assess progress toward goals to make adjustments and improvements in their behaviors.
- Reflect and evaluate. Facilitate discussions and reflection to prompt students to examine what they do, think, and say against their goals and vision for their life and learning.

FYI:
HAC Information:
It is the goal of RMS teachers and staff to keep student grades updated weekly for parents and guardians to stay aware of their child's/children's progress throughout the semester. If you are having trouble accessing HAC (Home Access Center) you can email Stacee Frazier for help with login credentials.
Student Badges
6th & 7th Grade students were issued badges at the beginning of this school year. It is very important that students keep up with these ID badges throughout this school year. They will need them daily as a student at RMS. These badges are used in the cafeteria to charge lunch accounts, in the library to check out books, and with our athletic department to get into events for free. Please remind your student(s) to keep their ID badge with them in a safe place every day.
Lost & Found
The Lost and Found box is filling up fast. Please have your child check by the Library doors to see if something belongs to them. We clean the Lost & Found out at the end of each month.
