Looking for a book you won't put down? Check out The Maze Cutter by James Dashner
"Sadina, Isaac, and Jackie all learned about the unkind history of the Gladers from The Book of Newt and tall tales from Old Man Frypan, but when a rusty old boat shows up one day with a woman bearing dark news of the mainland--everything changes. The group and their islander friends are forced to embark back to civilization where they find Cranks have evolved into a more violent, intelligent version of themselves. The islanders are hunted by the Godhead, the Remnant Nation, and scientists with secret agendas. When they cross paths with an orphan named Minho from the Remnant Nation, the dangers become real and they don't know who they can trust. The islanders will have to survive long enough to figure out why they are being targeted, who is friend or foe, and what the Godhead has planned for the future of humanity."-- book jacket.

Senior Year Notes 🎓
Senior Project News
Seniors had their 3rd panel meeting on Thursday, 3/27. Parents and guardians, if your child received an NP, you will be receiving communication from their mentor. You can also view your child’s score in PowerSchool. Students are now in the final stretch of their projects and we thought it would be timely to provide some clarification points that have been given to students. The next and final panel meeting will be Thursday, May 8th after school. At that point students' Senior Projects should be complete except for their Public Exhibition.
On Wednesday, April 9th, seniors will have a Senior Project work day that will coincide with an early release (juniors are taking the SAT and sophomores are taking the PSAT 10). Seniors who have passed all of their panel meetings should use this day to make progress on their projects and can work from home or another place of their choosing. Students who have not passed all three checkpoints will be required to attend school so that they can work on their project with assistance from Souhegan faculty.
Senior Project Public Exhibitions will take place on Thursday, May 29, and Friday, May 30. Parents must notify the Senior Project coordinators about possible scheduling conflicts by completing this form by Friday April 11th.

Robotics Team
The Souhegan Robotics team had a strong showing in the qualifying rounds at the New England FIRST UNH District Event. After a slow start, the team battled back from being ranked almost 30th in the early part of the weekend to finishing qualification rounds ranked 11th out of 41 teams. As part of the playoffs, the team was picked to join the number 4 seeded alliance. This alliance worked their way through to the semifinals. A mechanical failure with 1 minute remaining in the semifinal match gave the team a third-place finish in the competition. Not to mention, this alliance scored the 5th highest penalty-free round in the world with a score of 225 points.
Additionally, the team was awarded the Excellence in Engineering Award. The award celebrates the team that demonstrates a professional approach to the design process, and whose design is elegant and advantageous on the field of play. The judges described the teams engineering skills as "seen not only in the reflection of their moon pool but also when controlling their robot when using autopilot. This team has harpooned the Excellence in Engineering Award."
