Thankful for our School Community
As we approach this Thanksgiving holiday, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for our students, staff and families. Our school community is a reflection of the dedication, hard work, and kindness of each and every one of you. Whether it's in the classroom, on the athletic field, in the hallways or at home, your efforts make a difference and contribute to the growth and success of our students.
Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what we're grateful for, and I am incredibly thankful for the unwavering commitment of our staff and Board of Education, the enthusiasm of our students and the support of our families. As you gather with loved ones this week, I wish you a restful and joyful Thanksgiving filled with warmth, laughter and appreciation. Thank you again for all you do, and I look forward to continuing to work alongside you in the days ahead. Happy Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Matthew Stuard

FCS Earns Statewide Recognition for MTSS/PBIS Implementation
Last year, Fowlerville Community Schools adopted the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) with a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework. This initiative provides a structured approach to fostering a positive and safe learning environment, improving students behavior, enhancing academic achievement, promoting social-emotional learning and reducing disciplinary issues.
This year, Fowlerville Community Schools earned recognition from the Michigan MTSS Technical Service Center (MiMTSS), by being awarded the Implementation and Impact Award at the Gold level. High School Principal, Nick Zajas and Academic Interventionist, Tonya Montoya, had the privilege of presenting Fowlerville's success story at the MiMTSS Conference held in Lansing. Their poster presentation highlighted the district's innovative practices and the significant strides made in creating an inclusive and supportive school culture. Congratulations to our staff for this outstanding achievement!
Dan Coon Named Girls Wrestling Coach of the Year
Congratulations to Coach Dan Coon, who was recently honored by the Michigan High School Coaches Association as the Girls Wrestling Coach of the Year. With over 30 years of coaching experience, Mr. Coon has dedicated his career to mentoring countless student-athletes in Fowlerville, inspiring them to excel both on and off the mat. As a retired Fowlerville Community Schools teacher, his commitment to fostering growth, sportsmanship and resilience has left an enduring legacy within our community. We are proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition of Mr. Coon's remarkable contributions to Fowlerville athletics! #GoGlads
Visit the New Fowlerville Elementary School During Christmas in the 'Ville
If you were unable to join us for the ribbon cutting ceremony of the new Fowlerville Elementary School in October, we have good news! The building will be open during Fowlerville's Christmas in the 'Ville on Saturday, December 7 from 10:00am - 3:00pm. Guests will be able to view the building, see the new furniture and check out the great new learning environment for our K-2 learners.
K-5 Chromebook "Take Home" During Winter Break
As Winter Break approaches, we are excited to offer our students an opportunity to continue learning at home! This year, we will encourage K-5 families to bring their Chromebooks home so students can access and complete iReady MyPath lessons during Winter Break. We will also be taking a look at doing this again during Spring Break.
Research (Math/Literacy) shows that students who consistently engage with MyPath lessons experience greater academic growth, and we want to ensure our students have the chance to keep progressing even while school is out. Please note that there will be no Tech support from either teachers or technology staff during winter break.
In early December, a form will be sent to all families from H.T. Smith and Natalie Kreeger Elementary Schools to gauge interest in checking out a device during Winter Break. This form will include guidelines on expectations, including handling repairs, troubleshooting, and focusing on iReady work.
Little Glads Celebrate Friendsgiving
Students, staff and families of the Little Glad Early Childhood Center shared a Friendsgiving meal on Wednesday, November 20 at the school for their 5th annual event. We want to thank all of the families for their contributions as well as Torch 180 for their donations. It was a wonderful time to come together, enjoy great food and celebrate what we are thankful for.
NJHS Hosting Shoe Drive
The National Junior Honor Society at Fowlerville Junior High School is hosting a shoe drive to help those who may need new shoes during the colder winter months. Each building of Fowlerville Community Schools will have a collection box where you can donate any gently used shoes that still have life left in them. The collections will take place through January 17, 2025.
