October 2024
Message from School Leadership
Positive Astro Families:
Welcome to October! October is a favorite month here at Neil Armstrong because of the academically rich activities, family-involved fun, and school culture-building through collaboration and conversation.
In October, NAE participates in Bully Prevention Month by scheduling monthly activities that highlight the importance of bullying prevention through engaging in tasks and conversations. Our SRO has already been in classrooms to educate students, we have completed the Juice Box Bully story with the pledge, and we focus every day on building leaders in the classroom. Our Code of Student Conduct defines bullying as “Bullying, including cyberbullying, occurs when a person or group of people hurts, embarrasses or frightens another person repeatedly.” Cyberbullying can happen through cell phones, social media, email, online games, and even video games. It is important to be safe when online and using technology. If you would like to know more about internet safety, ask Mrs. Welsh! We take Cyberbullying seriously and will investigate reported cases of this type of bullying. Students can remain safe from bullying by saying something to an adult, asking for help, finding a friend, and/or exiting the area. If students feel they are being bullied, they need to verbally tell or write a note of the incident to any adult. Another way is to use the online Bully Button, which can be found on the school or district website. More information about bullying can be found here: https://www.yourcharlotteschools.net/bullying
This month, we kick off our first school-wide family involvement project of the school year: Pumpkin Book Characters! This activity was a huge success last year, and we love that it promotes reading books, brainstorming, and then creating a Pumpkin Book Character! These are the memories you’ll cherish forever.
Other activities that we’re looking forward to include new school-wide Student-led Conferences, the beloved Fall Ball, and the totally awesome Fall Ball Festival—Trunk or Treat! We have included images below of all of these October Activities! Please take a look and join in the fun!

Bully Prevention Month
Every October, schools and organizations across the country join together in observing National Bullying Prevention Month. The goal is to encourage communities to work together to stop bullying and cyberbullying by increasing awareness of the occurrence and impact of bullying on children of all ages. See flyer for more details and school-wide activities!

We are pleased to announce the first family involvement project of the school year: NAE Pumpkin Book Characters!
