Greenbriar Gazette 2/7/25

Volume 34 Issue 22 | February 7, 2025
Principal's Message
Dear Greenbriar Families,
It was a busy and fun week at Greenbriar. Our younger students celebrated the 100th day of school on Tuesday and we all had a great time at our Read-A-Thon fundraiser and World Read Aloud on Wednesday. Students had the chance to hear from some authors and guest readers, read with some of Krieger's friends from Canines4Comfort, and read with buddy classes in the building! So far, we have raised $1,650 for Education for All Children (EFAC), in honor of our 75th anniversary. We're hoping to raise $7,500 over the year so please feel free to donate here if you'd still like to contribute.
Our kindergarten registration window is now open for 2025-26! If you have a kindergartener, please register and if you know of a neighbor with a kindergarten-aged student please encourage them to register as well. Parents can prepare for online registration by downloading and completing the registration forms listed on the Kindergarten Registration webpage.
Thanks to Kristen Schotke for these amazing photos of Science Night from last week!
I look forward to seeing everyone at conferences next week. As a reminder, we have an early dismissal on Thursday at noon and no school on Friday. The next Gazette will arrive in your inboxes on Thursday 2/13.
Have a great weekend!
Ginny
Our Greyhounds had a great time with World Read Aloud Day and our Read-a-Thon this week. They listened to digital stories read by staff, visited with Canines 4 Comfort dogs, and listened to authors via Zoom! Thanks to Mrs. Sanchez in the Greenbriar library for organizing such a fun day!

How Many Kindergarteners Will We Have?
Kindergarten registration is underway! Each year we welcome a new class of learners to District 28, but we actually do not know how many 5-year-olds we will welcome in August until we have them registered. We use this early registration to prepare for the next school year. We need to plan for staffing and classroom space…Please help us out by registering this week, and sharing this information with any friends or neighbors who have a child who will be 5 years old on September 1st. No fees are required until April.
Please visit the Kindergarten Registration webpage for more information or contact Administration Assistant Catherine Janus.

Exciting Service Projects Ahead!
(We are 78% of the way to our goal and need your help!)
We are thrilled to announce some upcoming service projects that will provide meaningful experiences for our students. Building on last year's incredible success—when our students packaged over 1,300 meals and created more than 1,600 bracelet kits for various organizations—we are eager to make this year even more impactful. We are partnering again with several nonprofits to facilitate these projects, and we are reaching out to you for support.
To ensure that each student can fully participate, we kindly ask for a suggested donation of $25 per student. This contribution will help us cover the costs of materials and supplies necessary for the service activities. We also encourage you to share this opportunity with grandparents and extended family members who may want to contribute and help support this meaningful effort.
Your generous donation will make a direct difference in the success of these projects and the impact they have on both our students and the communities they serve.
Please contribute by February 21st!
Thank you for your continued support!
