Book Fair is coming October 28-31
Once upon a time...there was a book fair at Clayton! This school's theme this year is perfect for library land, so we're using fairy tale decor to bring the fair to life. The book fair creates extra excitement about books and reading, and the profits directly fund our library clerk, Susan Stevens. Be sure to look for the teacher "wish wall" - you can purchase a book, selected by the teacher, to help build their classroom library.
If you want to help create the fairy tale, we'd love to have you volunteer; see available times on our Signup Genius. Our highest needs are during setup and takedown, and during the after school shift. Please note a few changes from our typical fair:
The fair will last 4 days (Friday is a school holiday)
Wednesday, not Thursday, will be our later closing day, due to Halloween.
Takedown will be the following Monday morning.
We accept cash, credit, and the Scholastic ewallet. (Remember to log in and "roll over" unused funds from previous fairs into the current fair.) Here are our hours; we hope to see you here!
Schedule
Monday Oct 28 - 8:00-4:15
Tuesday Oct 29 - 8:00-4:15
Wednesday Oct 30 - 8:00-6:00
Thursday Oct 31 - 8:00-4:15
Literary Pumpkins
It's time for a favorite Clayton tradition: the literary pumpkin. Each fall, we encourage families to select a favorite book or book character, and transform a pumpkin into a fun creation that captures that character or story. Our cardinals and their families love the unique displays! Artificial pumpkins are preferred because they're lighter and less messy, so be sure not to poke any holes if you use a real pumpkin. Label your pumpkin and have your kids bring it to the library any time before October 24. (See full details on flyers.) This isn't a contest, but all pumpkins received by October 24 will be entered in a drawing to win a $20 gift card for our fall book fair. We can't wait to see this year's pumpkin patch!

Calling all engineers! School-wide STEM event Feb 2025
Are you an engineer and want to share your love of engineering with our students? Well, we have a spot for you!
Nan Clayton Elementary is looking to ignite the spark of exploration and curiosity by hosting a school-wide STEM DAY engineering experience in February 2025. (STEM is science, technology, engineering, and math.) Our vision is that every classroom, PreK through 5th grade, will get to experience an in-class hands on engineering project hosted by an Austin engineer.
