Media Center/Readers are Leaders
Media Center Activities
Open House is next week, and Dr. Cash is looking forward to seeing you. Monroe County has launched a Culture of Literacy incentive for the district this year. Literacy unlocks the door to learning throughout life! PKS celebrates literacy in a variety of ways throughout the school year, especially through the Readers are Leaders program. PKS will celebrate literacy with different themes each month that will include literacy activities, family events, classroom fun and much more. Your children will learn to love literacy when you read with them at home, too.
September’s theme is “Fall into Literacy” where we can all find fun new books to fall in love with. If you would like to share pictures, send them to Dr. Cash, I will put them in future newsletters! September also celebrates Patriot’s Day, the Constitution, and early American patriotism. There are many books here in the Media Center that you can check out!

Safety Chat with Officer Mercy
Dear Parents –
This year PKS has expanded their commitment to safety for our students and staff.
We are being even more vigilant during arrival and dismissal times and it would be very helpful if the only adults present during these times are the PKS staff. That way, if there is a stranger or someone who does not belong on school grounds, it will be obvious.
How you can assist:
- Stay in your vehicle
- Report anything out of the ordinary
- Drop off students at the end of the walkway, or at the South gate if walking/biking
Thank you all for your cooperation!!!
