Welcome:
CEO Note
It’s Berthoud Literary Festival month!
If you haven’t heard, our Literary Festival is the third weekend of this month. Block off
your calendars, check out the full lineup of authors and presentations, and get your
tickets now. Is it the most exciting event happening in our community this month?
We’re sure it is.
Remember that we host Storytime multiple times a week. Now that the bigger kids are
back in school, it’s a great time to bring the littler ones to the Library. Call us or stop in
with any questions, and if you know any new parents, let them know we’re ready to
welcome them.
Amie Pilla
Library CEO

Helen De Cruz on Self Realization and Climate Change with POPCO
How can philosophy help us face the climate crisis?
In the essay, "Why Seek Self Realisation?" philosopher Helen De Cruz explores the thoughts of several other philosophers (especially Næss, Spinoza, and Lorde) regarding how to properly relate to our environment. As a witness to climate destruction, it is easy to feel like a divided person because we are losing our home. Yet, De Cruz contends that finding our identity (or achieving "self-realization") as part of the world we live in is a key step towards addressing the climate crisis. It also helps us see what is worth saving.
Join us on September 26 to discuss De Cruz's essay and what it can contribute to our lives and thinking!
Links to the reading and a reading guide can be found below.
Free registration on Eventbrite.
Registration lets us know how many participants to expect.
Knit & Crochet Drop-In
Knit & Crochet Drop-in will meet this Friday the 27th of September from 1-3PM.
This is not a class, just a place for fellow crafters to meet and knit/crochet together. This is a drop-in event.
