THE CLOSET AT MGMS
Opt-out Information & Universal Screening
The purpose of this communication is to inform you that students in grades 2-12 will take the mySAEBRS assessment this fall and again this spring. The mySAEBRS assessment, which stands for Minnesota Student Academic Behavioral Rating Scales, is student self-evaluation. It provides valuable insights into areas such as social skills, emotional well-being, and behavioral strengths and challenges. This assessment helps us gain a more comprehensive understanding of your child's needs, allowing us to better support their growth and development. For more information about assessment items and questions asked click here. If you would like to opt your child out of this assessment, please complete the Parent/Guardian Refusal for Student Participation in Districtwide Assessments/Testing linked on https://www.district279.org/academics/assessments.
Feedback opportunity on attendance boundary considerations.
The attendance boundary change process is kicking off. Community involvement will be an important part of this. In that effort, we’re currently asking for feedback on the considerations that should be adhered to during the creation of the proposed attendance boundary scenarios – from now until Oct. 9. Staff, students, parents/caregivers and community members are all welcome to participate. Shared responses are anonymous and can be completed within minutes. Thank you.

MGMS Fundraiser
Dear Mustang Families,
This year our PACT (Parents And Community Together) group is conducting a fundraiser September 30 to October 11 to help support a variety of initiatives within our school.
If we achieve our goal of $20,000 our highest priorities are to:
- Fund social events that create opportunities to bring the MGMS community together, such as our upcoming Ninja's United event on October 5th,
- Support student leadership projects that allow students to give back to our community and our school.
- Provide staff appreciation and support to boost morale and provide classrooms with additional materials.
PACT has partnered with Pledgestar, an online platform, to make it easy to not only participate, but to spread the word to family and friends. To participate please go to http://pledgestar.com/maplegrove to register your student. On the home screen, find our event using code maplegrove. Then click on Not Registered for This Year's Event. Enter your name and email address then click Submit. Follow the instructions to register your student and share with family and friends. Pledge requests will then be emailed to friends and family allowing them to make secure donations online. You will be notified of every pledge made to your student. If you want to donate, just not online, cash or check can be placed in an envelope labeled with your student's first and last name, advisory teacher, and grade and given to their advisory teacher. See attached flyer for more details.
Further questions can be directed to mgmspacttreasurer@gmail.com or problems with registration can be directed to 1-888-598-7510.
PACT
PACT
Similar to elementary school PTOs, PACT (Parents and Community Together) works to build a strong, inclusive community at MGMS. Every MGMS parent and caregiver is a member. The primary ways for parents/caregivers to make an impact include donations, volunteering and advocacy.
Next meeting: October 15 @ 7-8 PM

Fundraising
The MGMS fall fundraiser starts this coming Monday, September 30 and runs through Friday, October 11. We are using Pledgestar again this year, with a goal of raising $20,000. Students will receive an instructional flier in their advisory classes.
Funds support MGMS social events, service projects, staff appreciation and classroom extras. Encourage your student to participate! There are school-wide incentives for both highest participation and most funds raised.
Event Information
MGMS students are invited to attend MGMS Night at Ninjas United on Saturday, October 5 from 6 - 8 pm, hosted by the student wellness leadership team. This is a drop-off event, but parent volunteers are still needed. CLICK HERE to sign up for a one-hour shift!
Volunteer Information
Volunteers are welcome and appreciated throughout the year! Check out an overview of events for this school year, and pledge your support today!
Advocacy
Learn about ISD 279’s 2024-2025 legislative priorities and contact your legislators to ask them to support the priorities you’re passionate about.
PACT Meetings
One of the best ways for parents and caregivers to know what’s going on at MGMS and positively affect the school is to attend a PACT meeting. PACT Meetings are held once a month (except March and December) from 7:00–8:00 pm. 2024 meeting dates are posted on the website. There is always an online attendance option; some meetings also occur in person.
