SAINTS LIFE
National Honor Society
St. Louis Catholic High School’s annual induction ceremony for the National Honor Society was on May 21, 2025. A total of 39 students were inducted into the school’s chapter. NHS is the nation’s oldest and best-known student recognition program and was founded in 1921 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. This year, students with a cumulative weighted grade point average of at least a 3.75 were invited to apply. Additionally, candidates had to meet high standards of service, leadership, and character. Student applications were reviewed and selected by a majority vote of a five-member faculty council appointed by the principal.
At the induction ceremony, the 2024-25 membership (109 members) were applauded for a stellar year in which they invested 5,101 hours in the community through 975 NHS-sponsored service activities. Some of the chapter projects included LifeShare blood drives, trunk or treat with a partner school, and community drives such as Coats for Kids and laundry items for Catholic Charities. One of the biggest accomplishments was the coordination of the 1st Campus Beautification Day in March. Kyndal Goodwin received the senior service award, which included a $100 scholarship and alumni pin. The senior service award was created to recognize a senior with the most NHS-sponsored service projects. We are proud of this record of accomplishment and grateful for the leadership of our 2024-25 officers: Allison Donnelly, Jonah Austin, Sydney Guinn, Abigail Williams, and Avery Foret.
Congratulations to the 2025-26 officers who will be leading us next year!
President - Kate David; VP - Gabrielle McKinley; Secretary - Kaleb Katoch; Treasurer - Alexander Richards; Parliamentarian - Benjamin-Isaac Duplechin
Landry Library
Check out our awesome library statistics for 2024-25 and consider preventing the "summer slide" by READING. Did you know that it only takes about 2-3 hours of reading each week to prevent learning loss over the summer (source: mackinlibrary)? That's only 20-25 minutes per day! Even 5-10 minutes a day will help.
Tip from the Librarian: When you finish one of your summer reading books, pick another one from your grade-level list. Then, submit what you read to the Million Word Reading Challenge. The challenge runs from June 1 - April 15th. Let's see how many words you can read this year! New students, you'll be able to participate in the Million Word Reading Challenge after you set up your email address in July.

COMMUNITY
GOLDEN JUBILEE FOR BISHOP PROVOST IS JUNE 29
A "Mass of Thanksgiving” honoring The Most Reverend Glen John Provost on the Golden Jubilee of his Priesthood Ordination will take place on the Solemnity of St. Peter and St. Paul at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, June 29, 2025, in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 935 Bilbo Street, Lake Charles.
Bishop Provost was ordained to the priesthood on June 29, 1975, by Pope St. Paul VI at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
“The priesthood has been a true blessing,” said Bishop Provost. "Blessings come in many ways, by many means, and at various times. When I was ordained a priest, I placed myself in God’s hands, trusting that He would do with me as He wished. Throughout these 50 years I have been humbled by the experiences from which I have seen God’s Will at work and benefited from His gifts.”
Immediately following the Mass, a light reception will take place at the Chancery, 1201 Ryan Street (corner of Ryan and Clarence streets). We hope you can share in this ministry milestone of our faithful Shepherd.
