Do you know what happens in 11 school days?
CEC Graduation
We made it to the last month of the school year and hold on, it will be the fastest one yet, especially for our seniors. There will be a lot of information in this newsletter for our soon to be graduates. I would like to take this time to thank you for entrusting us with your child's education. We are blessed to have you all part of our CEC family.
I would also like to thank you all for helping us celebrate Mrs. King last month and for the donations to help us spoil our four teachers next week.
Mother's Day is celebrated differently from family to family but the spirit of the day remains the same. We honor that person we call "mom" for being that special person in our lives that sticks with us through thick and thin. Our best wishes to all for a Happy Mother's Day from all of the CEC Moms.
Lastly, please make sure to log into your Infinite Campus Parent Portal to check your child's grades. Seniors must be finished with all class work by May 14th. Underclassmen must have all work turned in by May 16th.
I BELIEVE IN YOU!

Did you know?
Starting next year, Chandler Early College will receive a letter grade by Arizona Board of Education. Students will still earn their degree from their home school, but we will be looked at separately. The system measures year to year student academic growth, proficiency on English language arts, math and science, the proficiency and academic growth of English language learners, indicators that high school students are ready to succeed in a career or higher education and high school graduation rates.
What are the components of a letter grade?
A-F Letter Grades use state assessment results, English learner assessment results, attendance, special education metrics, graduation rates and progress towards graduation, and graduating seniors’ completion of activities that help prepare for college and career. These data points are used to measure students’ performance and growth on the state assessment, English learner’s proficiency and growth towards proficiency in English, and readiness for students’ next steps to college and careers. For more detailed information on the A-F Letter Grades, please use the A-F Letter Grade Technical Manuals on the Arizona Department of Education website here: https://www.azed.gov/accountability-research/resources under “Technical Manuals & Codebooks”.
Although we are an alternative program, we are not considered an alternative high school. We will be graded like all of our traditional high schools. The great news is if we were to have received a letter grade last year we would have been a B. We have not received results for where we would fall this year, but we are projected it would be a B again. Our students do amazing things here and we are so proud of them!
We Need Your Help!
Attendance is extremely important for students to be successful. At this point in the school year 77% of our students have moderate to extreme attendance issues. Please help us improve our daily attendance rate.
👚Dress Code Reminder🩳
As the weather is getting warmer, please remember to dress appropriately for school.

Excused Absences
- A parent or legal guardian is asked to call the attendance office within 24 hours of the absence to officially excuse students from school or particular periods of classes during the day. Please call our attendance line at 480.224.3067.
- Students arriving late or leaving early must sign in/out at the front office and have a parent or legal guardian call the front desk to excuse at 480.224.3060.
- No student will be permitted to leave campus without parent verification.
- Students are responsible for making arrangements to make up time missed, as that impacts student progress here at CEC more than any other factor. Please make sure to check Google classroom.
Unexcused Absences are considered truancies. the parent is notified whenever a student is absent. Work cannot be made-up for credit on unexcused absences.
Tardy to Class
- Students are expected to be seated in their classrooms ready to begin class work at the start of each period.
- A tardy is defined as "not being in an assigned seat at the minute".
- Student's who have habitual tardies may be dropped from their class. If tardies are in first hour, student's schedules may be changed to add to a class later in the day.
- If your child is tardy, please call the front office to excuse them.
Consequences for Absences
- After 4 absences (excluding documented illness) per quarter, the student will be place on an attendance contract. This is their first warning.
- After 8 absences per quarter, student will be issued a second warning that they can be dropped from their in-person class.
- After 10 absences, family will receive a 10-Day Attendance Letter (10 consecutive absences, the state requires schools to automatically withdraw the student, please make sure to be in contact with Mrs. Scaringelli or Mrs. King)
- After 12 absences, students will have received their final warning
- 13 absences is considered missing 1/3 of the curriculum. In-person classes will be dropped and student's will be placed in a lift lab equivalent.
- After 18 absences, family will receive a 18-Day Attendance Letter
- After 10 Consecutive Absences per semester, the state requires schools to automatically withdraw the student.
