Dyslexia Services
STOP
👀 STOP documenting Dyslexia Services under Compensatory and Alternate Schedule of Services.
Dyslexia Services is a Special Education Instructional Service.
Remember, students who are pulled out for Dyslexia Services are no longer mainstream students.
EdPlan Connect Parent Portal
The Parent Portal allows the parent or guardian, to virtually access documents generated in EdPlan as specified by Dallas ISD. Documents may include the child’s IEP document, progress reports, 504 documents (if applicable), and other documents.

Tips
Progress Monitoring Entries Summary Report is the way to be sure your campus is compliant for all Progress Track entries.
👁️ Every objective must be Setup have a Baseline and an Instructional entry (score or no score) to be counted in the campus percent of entries.
👂 Add Setup, Baseline and Instructional entry as soon as possible after an ARD is finalized so they will show on the report.
😮 Objectives that are not monitored in Progress Track, such as Speech, have been excluded from the report and are not counted in the % of Progress Monitoring Entries by campus or case manager.

Re-Evaluation (REED)
REED Continued Eligibility (REED/CE) Requires an Annual ARD
A REED with continued eligibility must be created in an Annual ARD. The new FIE event requires a new Eligibility event that cannot be created in a Revision ARD.
Reevaluation FIE Requires an Annual ARDA Reevaluation FIE must be reviewed in an Annual ARD. the new FIE event requires a new Eligibility event that cannot be created in a Revision ARD.
A REED for additional testing can be held in a Revision ARD.
Review of Outside LEA Data
When reviewing a Dallas ISD FIE or REED/CE, use the "Event Date" of the FIE, not the "Date Created".

Transfer Process Dos and Don'ts
- Do involve the evaluator in the Transfer Process.
- Don't go straight to the Annual ARD before the evaluator finalizes the Review of Outside LEA Data.
- Do select Annual ARD for the off-temp ARD meeting. An Initial ARD is not the appropriate meeting.
- Don't begin drafting the Annual ARD before the Transfer Meeting is finalized
- Do select Dyslexia Assessment Met Criteria-Yes on the Information Reviewed and Considered section if the student meets the criteria.
- Don't hold the Transfer Meeting and the Annual ARD on the same date.
- Do visit the SDMS website for access to various guides: SDMS Website Link
*Evaluators include Diagnosticians, LSSPs, SLPs and other district staff such as OT/PT.

New Professional Development Fall 2024
- Virtual: EasyIEP Intro (Fall 2024) (3.5 hrs) is required for new Special Education Teachers and Staff
- FIE Writer for Special Education Central Staff - Online (2.5 hrs) is required for new evaluation staff
- Attaching Audio/Video Files in EdPlan - Online covers step-by-step instructions for attaching electronically produced files in the EdPlan/EasyIEP application.
- EasyIEP Q&A (Fall 2024) is for staff with access to EdPlan and have questions about EasyIEP. Q&A is an in person help desk session.
- EasyTRAC/Wizards (3.5 hrs) - provides an overview of the mechanism Dallas ISD uses for logging services provided to a Special Education students New Fall 2024
- EdPlan Modifications/Enhancements (Fall 2024) provides an overview of changes that have been made in EdPlan recently. Become familiar with updated functionality and print of the EdPlan/EasyIEP system New Fall 2024
- PEIMS! PEIMS! PEIMS! (Fall 2024) Stay Compliant year round! During these sessions SDMS staff will be available to assist with campus’ PEIMS errors.
- Progress Monitoring in Progress Track is for all sped campus/central staff to understand how to document student progress in EdPlan/Progress Track
- Reports for Special Education Teachers and Staff is for all sped campus/central staff who want to learn how to run SDMS Custom Reports in SpedReporter.
