NO SCHOOL - Monday, May 6
Mark your calendars for no school on Monday, May 6. This is a Licensed Staff Workshop Day!
Note from the Principal
Dear Basswood Families,
I hope to see everyone at the Basswood Carnival tonight. This is a great community event and it is A LOT of fun!
Parent Pick up and Drop off: Thank you for making the adjustment to the closed lane in the morning and afternoon. I have received a few questions about this and I want you to know that the management of two lanes of traffic had created some unsafe situations in the cross walk. Merging after the crosswalk has made the area more manageable. Thank you for your understanding!
Book Drive: This is the last week to support former Basswood students that are hosting a book drive in partnership with the Maple Grove Rotary. The vision of these Junior Rotarians is to gather gently used children's books and provide them to families at MissionInc. This non-profit supports those in need of emergency shelter and/or recovery support. To support their project, bring books to Basswood by May 3rd. A collection box will be located near the front office.
In Partnership,
Steven Schwartz
Basswood Principal
Last chance...Student Placement Form for 2024-25 School Year
This is the time of year when we begin thinking about next year’s classroom placement. Several variables are taken into consideration to create a balanced classroom that will meet student needs. If you feel there are any unique factors the school may not know about your student or if you'd like your student separated from another student(s), please complete the yellow form that went home last week and return this form to the Basswood office. If you need another Student Placement Form, please call the BW office at 763-494-3858. Forms are due by April 30.
Basswood Carnival is TONIGHT!!
The Basswood Carnival is tonight starting at 5:30pm until 8:30pm. Pre-ordered wristbands went home this past Wednesday. You can purchase wristbands at the door for $13 each or two for $25. Adults and children under 2 years old do not need a wristband. Remember this is not a drop-off event. Please stay with your children and enjoy the fun! There will be concessions for sale along with a few food trucks!
We cannot wait to see you!!
Basswood 5th grade Career Day
We will be having our annual 5th grade career fair on Friday, May 17th, 10am to 12:30pm in our Media Center. This gives the students a chance to start setting educational and career goals and practice their interviewing skills. A flyer went home to families this past Wednesday. You can reach out to Amy Paton, our school counselor, at patona@district279.org with your questions.
