Dear Brown MS Community,
I hope you are reading this email while sitting on a beach listing to the waves! Summer still has a few remaining weeks, so don't panic yet. This newsletter is intended to provide you with some information that you may begin to wonder about such as dates, supplies, sports, etc. There will be more specific information for your family coming in the weeks ahead such as student team assignments. Until then, enjoy the good weather and breathe!
I am happy to say summer has been great for me and my family. We spent a couple of weeks by the ocean in Maine and were able to see friends and family from near and far. We take my daughter to her first year of college at the end of this week and my son heads off to his college a couple of weeks after that. I am about to get a full serving of what it feels like to be an "empty nester" - wish me luck!
We are looking forward to welcoming all of our students back on September 6th! Our custodians, administrators and secretaries are working hard to prepare the building for the influx of students. Whatever you do for the remaining weeks of the summer, I hope it is filled with whatever it is that you love most.
Best,
Kim Lysaght, Principal

Bus registration 2022-2023
If you have not yet registered your child for a bus pass, please visit the NPS Transportation website for more information.
Food Services for 2022-2023
All food transactions need to be processed through the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, regardless of free/reduced-price eligibility. Therefore, we will be going back to the pre-Covid system of students typing in their code each time they get a lunch from the cafeteria. This code is the same number they use to log into their Chromebooks and is known as their LASID number. We will work with students at the beginning of the year to help them learn the system. Of course, students are always welcome to bring their own lunches to school each day as well.
The School Committee voted pricing for paid meals at their 6/21 meeting. Second meals will cost $5.50 at the middle and high schools. You can view the recommendation here: Paid Lunch Pricing Recommendation Presentation.
Please note that families eligible for free or reduced-price lunch will still receive financial support based upon the federal guidelines. Please check eligibility on the NPS website under the Food Services/How to Pay for Meals/Financial Assistance tab

Once school has begun, teachers will share any additional information with their students regarding materials.
