We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
I was reminded recently of a quote by the Venerable Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy. "Let us take one day only in our hands at a single time," she says, "resolve to do good today and better tomorrow."
It reminds me of what we often call the "growth mindset" in education - shifting our thinking and the thinking of students from "I can't do that" to "I can't do that... yet." It's a simple but powerful shift, and one I hope we encourage in our students each day here at Father Doyle.
A reminder that there is no school this Monday due to Veterans Day. A special thank you to Mr. Godin and all of the staff and students who participated in our Veterans Day Prayer Service yesterday evening. It was a beautiful tribute to the brave men and women who have served and currently serve our country.
The school is aware of challenges regarding busing this academic year. Please know that we are in regular communication with Ocean State Transit and Coventry Public Schools regarding these challenges. A note that busing routes, schedules, etc. are determined and managed by Ocean State Transit. While we are happy to work together with families and Ocean State Transit to resolve any difficulties, Father Doyle School is not the direct provider of busing.
In addition, we received notice recently that the Rhode Island Broadcasters Association (RIBA), which previously provided text message notifications to families regarding school delays or cancellations will no longer be providing a messaging service. Please note, should school be delayed or cancelled due to inclement weather, you will receive notification from the school via email and through text message using our FACTS Parent Alert system. We tested this system with all families in early September. Please be sure that your cell phone numbers are listed accurately in FACTS. Thank you!

Turkey Day Camp - Coming this November!
Parents, on the day before Thanksgiving are you working? Cooking? Cleaning? Maybe you just want to get the house ready for guests?
Let us help! Children in Pre-K and Kindergarten can enjoy a day of everything turkey at our Turkey Day Camp on Wednesday, November 27th from 8:00am-3:30pm. The day will feature story time, a craft, outdoor play, songs, games and learning stations that are all related to the themes of Thanksgiving and turkeys.
Children will need to bring a snack, lunch, and a refillable water bottle.
The cost for the day is $75. Please note, there will not be a nurse in the building during Turkey Day Camp.
