Kindergarten Registration Information for 25-26 School Year
Parents who have an incoming Kindergartener for the 25-26 school year can follow these steps to begin the process of getting their child set for school:
1. Complete this Google Form - https://tinyurl.com/m4ejn778
This is not a registration form. It relays basic information to Waynesville Elementary School staff including your contact information.
2. Attend the Kindergarten Information Meeting on February 13, 2025 at 6 p.m. in the WES Cafeteria.
3. Access FinalForms - https://waynelocal-oh.finalforms.com/students - to begin registration for your child on February 13 or before March 11.
4. Attend registration night on either March 11 or March 12 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the WES Cafeteria. Your child is not registered until all documents are submitted.
➡Kindergarten screening sign-ups will be scheduled on registration night.
➡AM/PM placement information will follow the first week of June.
➡Teacher information will be shared the first week of August via email to parents.
➡More information will be provided regarding the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment.
Youth Football and Cheer
Registration is now open for Waynesville Youth Football and Cheer through March 31. All students in grades 3-6 can register at: https://www.youthspartans.com/.
Waynesville PTO Begins Search for New Board Members
The Waynesville Elementary PTO is looking for new board members for the 2025-2026 school year. If this opportunity is of interest to you, please attend the next meeting on February 13 to ask questions and learn more. Nominations will be due by February 27, and introductions/voting will take place at the March 13 meeting. Contact WESPTOPRES659@GMAIL.COM with questions.
The Project Excellence Committee of the Area Progress Council of Warren County, Inc. seeks to recognize and honor excellent teachers within the public schools in Warren County. You may nominate deserving teachers by completing the on-line form on this website: https://www.apcwc.org/project-excellence.
Consideration of your nominee will be based on the information you supply. Characteristics of an excellent teacher might include but are not limited to the following:
- Demonstrates consistency and high commitment.
- Puts research into practice through their own initiative, is a discretionary risk taker.
- Implements creative instructional strategies.
- Focuses on raising the bar for all students.
- Possesses a full understanding of the subject and has the ability to challenge students at all levels.
- Is seen by others as genuine, authentic and sincere.
- Is a caring, thoughtful person who extends him or her self to make a positive difference.
- Shows understanding of others -- parents, children, etc.
- Continues to improve personally and professionally.
- Demonstrates that he/she is committed to continuous improvement. (i.e. constantly looking for new ways to do what they do)
- Influences others to improve by modeling the way.
- Other positive characteristics may include: motivational, shares ideas, inspires others, supportive, enthusiastic, creative, etc.
Please provide as much information as possible about your nominee. Identify the qualities and characteristics that make him/her excellent. Give examples and state specifically how your nominee has had special impact on the lives of students.

Waynesville Hometown Expo &5K - March 29
The Waynesville Chamber of Commerce is inviting area businesses to participate in the Waynesville Hometown Expo on Saturday, March 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Waynesville Junior High School. Nominations Now Being Accepted for Wayne Local Hall of Fame
The Wayne Local Hall of Fame honors individuals who have demonstrated excellence in one or both of the following categories:
- Academic Leadership – Achievements as a student in the Wayne Local School District.
- Success and Citizenship – Accomplishments after graduation from Wayne Local School District, or while an employee of the school district, or for other significant contributions to the district.
To submit a nomination, complete the Hall of Fame Nomination Form.
The due date for submissions is Friday, April 11, 2025.

Opportunity for HS Seniors to Become Trained in Community Emergency Response
This training, established by FEMA, includes emergency management practices, small fire suppression, mass casualty triage, life threatening first aid, light search and rescue, damage assessment, etc. all available to high school seniors. A prepared community can reduce the number of victims and bring aid faster to others. Classes are a combination of practical learning and actual application such as suppressing fires, treating injuries, carrying the wounded, etc. Learners will apply these skills in a final mock disaster drill.
Here are the training dates: February 22 (part 1) and March 1 (part 2) 2025 (attendance on both Saturdays is required to complete the training). The training timeframe is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The training location is 520 Justice Drive in Lebanon.

Free Discussion of Mental Health and Wellness
Lindner Center of Hope has announced its Free Community Education Series schedule for 2025. The schedule includes seven free educational sessions for the public. The sessions are each presented by Lindner Center of Hope clinicians on topics discussing mental health and wellness, strategies for awareness, prevention, and proactive ways to bolster health. The sessions will be hosted in person at either the Manor House in Mason or at the Countryside YMCA, Lebanon, Event Center, with a virtual platform provided by Community Partners.
The sessions take place 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. ET. Topics range from financial psychology to mindfulness to child and adolescent mental health.
The first session, presented by: Megan Schrantz, EdD, LPCC, therapist, Lindner Center of Hope.
Supporting Someone with Posttraumatic Stress: Opportunities to Promote Healing

Did you know that Waynesville Elementary has been collecting pull-tab donations for the Dayton Ronald McDonald House? And, you can contribute too. Donations are welcome through May 9. Students and community members can recycle tabs from any container (soda, soup, pet food cans, etc.) by placing them in a ziploc bag and dropping them off to the Waynesville Elementary School Office/Attention: Mrs. Voelker (Kindergarten Teacher).

Storytime for children 2 & 3 years and their caregiver.
Tuesdays 10:30 - 11:00 a.m.
We will read a story or two and do a fun activity each program. These sessions involve caregivers as active participants. Caregivers are expected to stay with children during all sessions. No Registration Required.
Baby Bookworms
Storytime for children from birth to 2 years and their caregiver.
Wednesdays 10:30-11:00 am.
Enjoy great books for babies, learn fun songs and rhymes. These sessions involve caregivers as active participants. Caregivers are expected to stay with children during all sessions. No Registration Required.
Preschool Storytimes for 4 and 5 year olds, including kindergarten
Thursdays 10:30 - 11:00 a.m.
Children will listen to stories, learn new words, sing, dance and develop their imagination. Preschool listening skills are practiced. Caregivers are not required to stay in the room during storytime. No Registration Required.
Art class for kids
Join us on Monday, February 10 to make a heart sun catcher. Grades K-5 from 4:15 - 5:00 p.m. Required registration begins January 27. All materials will be supplied. This class is a collaboration with the Waynesville Arts Council.
What are owl pellets? Join us on Monday February 3 from 4:00 - 4:45 p.m. and learn what they are and how to dissect and identify what is in them with Warren County Naturalist Shannon Pennington. For 3rd-5th graders, Registration started on Tuesday, January 21st.
Stuffed Animal Sleepover at The Mary L. Cook Public Library Friday, February 7th from 4:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. For ages 3 years - Grade 1. Bring your favorite stuffed animal (just one please) to the library for a sleepover! Please drop off your stuffed animal between 4:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 7th. Saturday, February 8th (between 10 a.m. & 2 p.m.) pick up your stuffed animal, and see what kind of mischief your little buddy got into at the library after dark! Required Registration started on January 21.

The Lorax - Interactive Movie Kits
Available beginning Monday, February 10. Pick up a movie kit at the front desk, available while supplies last. DVD’s are available for check out. Each kit has activities and snacks for four people.

Visit Tape Town
Bring your own car or truck to drive along our tape roads in Tape Town with many stops along the way. Stop in anytime Saturday, February 22nd from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. to zoom around Tape Town. Geared for ages 2 years - 6 years with an adult. No Registration Required.

The 3D Printing Club will be open for teens aged 12-18. Learn the basics of 3D printing and modeling over six sessions. Meetings are every other Thursday from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. starting March 6.

Join us for Dungeons & Dragons every second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 3 p.m.- 4 p.m. Create characters, role play in adventures, and discover the world of Dungeons & Dragons! No experience is required. This month's session will be February 12 and 26.

Waynesville High School student Shree Patel is a Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Student Visionary this year and is asking for support to raise money and awareness for blood cancer during a 7-week campaign, which ends April 4, 2025.
