College & Career News (UPDATED)
Class of 2025
This Friday November 15 marks the second Early Action Deadline for seniors. If you have a college on your list that has this deadline, make sure you submit your application in time. In addition, I have added a NEW Hand Picked Scholarships List to my list of scholarship resources. Now that your college applications are going out, you can now spend more time sending out scholarships. For example, the Jack Kent Cooke Merit Based scholarship is due this Thursday November 14. If you have a 3.75 cumulative unweighted GPA and financial need, this scholarship is for you.
Plus, the 2025-2026 FAFSA will be opening on December 1 of this year. To get you all ready, our first webinar session will be this Tuesday Nov 12 at 6:30pm. This "Get Set to Complete the FAFSA" webinar will teach you what you need to know for what is coming up. Click this link to register.
Paying for College: FAFSA & Financial Aid Webinar on Nov 13 at 6:30pm. Click this link to view the topics that will be covered and to register.
Lastly, some colleges offer their financial aid package & scholarships based on seniors completing their CSS Profile (in addition to completing the FAFSA). The list of colleges link on the college board is inactive at the moment but click this link to understand what the CSS Profile is and how to complete the application. Each college has a deadline of when they want it submitted.
Why Montgomery College? Virtual Information Session in English & Spanish this Thursday November 14 from 6:30-7:30pm.

College Financial Aid Workshops for Immigrant Students at CASA (Grades 9-12)
CASA de Maryland is hosting two workshops this month, on how to apply for financial aid to cover the cost of college tuition. The first workshop will be held at 6 pm on Tuesday, November 12th at CASA's Silver Spring Welcome Center (734 University Blvd East, Silver Spring, MD 20903) and the second workshop will be held at 6 pm on Wednesday, November 13that CASA's Multicultural Center (8151 15th Avenue, Hyattsville, MD 20783). Both workshops will cover the same content, so students are invited to attend whichever location is most convenient. You are also encouraged to bring along a supportive adult who will help them during the application process and throughout their post-secondary experience. This multi-generational workshop is open to all high school students grades 9th through 12th, particularly those from immigrant families including undocumented students. Furthermore, seniors attending the workshop will be invited to a follow up clinic in which they receive personalized support in completing their application when FAFSA and the MHEC One-App open on December 1st. Please see the CASA Workshops flyer linked here with all the details about this opportunity. If you have any questions or need additional information, please reach out to Mr. Trigo in the College & Career Center.
