The Westgate Wire
September 27, 2024
Bus passes are required for all bus riders as of October 1st!
A few things to put on your radar
- We want to be sure all our Westgate families are supported. Please complete the Family/Student Needs Survey 2024/2025 if your family needs support.
- Please be mindful of our neighbors if you and your children are playing on the back playground and field areas after school or on weekends. We want to avoid entering unfamiliar yards to recover balls or other equipment. Many neighbors have dogs and we would not want anyone injured or a dog to escape out of an open gate. Thanks!
- We encourage families to park on the streets around Westgate or in the front parking lot during arrival and dismissal. This will allow the parking spaces in the back parking lot to remain open for staff. We have staff members that arrive at 8:50 a.m. and many times do not have a place to park. Thank you for your help!

Garden Club Sign-Up
Attention all nature lovers! Do you like to be outside? Do you like to work with dirt? Would you like to be a leader to help to plant and harvest in our Westgate Garden? If so, Westgate Garden Club is for you!
Westgate Garden Club is looking for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade student garden leaders to help clean up our garden area this fall and then help plant and harvest vegetables next spring.
Here's how it works:
- 2nd and 3rd students will meet during their lunch/recess time from 12:30-1:00 pm.
- 4th and 5th-grade students will meet after school from 3:45-4:30 pm. If participating, parents will need to have their child picked up after school at 4:30 pm.
- The fall season will be used to clean up the current garden and prepare it for spring planting. We will most likely just meet one time during this season.
- During the spring, students will have the opportunity to plant, grow, harvest vegetables, and take them home to their families to enjoy. Usually, we will meet about 2-4 times a month.
- Throughout the summer, Garden Club families can sign up for a week to continue to maintain and harvest our garden (Your family can even keep the veggies you pick!)
- After enrolling, you will be emailed of your child's Garden Squad group and upcoming dates usually 2-3 days ahead of time. Dates are set based on the weather and the type needed in the garden that week.
- Parents will be notified via email if Garden Club is canceled due to bad weather.
- Please have your students dress in older clothes and shoes on the days that they are assigned. Things can get messy!
PLEASE CLICK ON THIS LINK TO SIGN-UP! Sign-up for this club will close on Friday, October 4th. (Sorry, but we cannot accept late enrollment after this date.)
Any questions? Please contact one of the Garden Club Teacher Leaders:
