Hermosa School Weekly Recap - Week of March 3-7
Hornet Families,
What a wonderful week we had at Hermosa School. March sure seems like it wants to come in like a lion, but next week is looking more like a lamb! Check below for a recap of the week and what is coming up next week.
A big shoutout to Mrs. Crown's 1st Grade Class as they are the South Dakota READBowl Champions for their division.
On Monday, our boys’ basketball team traveled to Hot Springs for a game, representing our school with great sportsmanship and effort. We are proud of their hard work and dedication!
Meanwhile, our Theater Troupe has been putting in extra time after school every day this week as they rehearse for their upcoming performance of Beauty and the Beast. Their commitment and enthusiasm are shining through, and we can’t wait to see all their hard work come to life on stage!
Thank you for your continued support of our students and their activities. We look forward to another great week ahead!

Counselor's Corner with Mrs. Graveman
Hello March!
What a great week back at school after my trip away.
Our school year is flying by, and it's hard to believe it is already March. As we near the end of the third quarter, our students are growing tired! Conversations this week highlight what students are doing for fun and how they are resetting and refreshing themselves to have the motivation to keep working hard. How does your student reset?
This week, Kindergarten students started their Problem-Solving unit with Second Step and worked to be able to identify a problem in various scenarios. 4th grade resumed their rethinking lesson with Second Step to understand how rethinking a situation can help us reframe our thoughts, as well as the steps to take to rethink. After learning about guiding principles and identifying their own, 6th grade learned how guiding principles influence the decisions we make.
March's Character Counts is Caring. Character Counts defines Caring as:
Being kind
Being compassionate
Expressing gratitude
Forgiving others
Being considerate of others' feelings
Keep an eye out next week for our February Fairness winners!
