From the Desk of Dr. Norfleet
Happy Weekend to our IGA Family!
First I want to congratulate our October Students of the Month for the middle grades for being
selected based on the character trait “helpful.” 5th Grade- Celia Castro, 6th Grade- Kayli Robinson, 7th Grade- Wreign Sparger, and 8th Grade- Wyatt Pattisaul. These students are great representatives of and for our student body at IGA! We are so proud!
This week, many of our students also attended a field trip to Mercer University. Thanks to Mr.
Harvey for putting the trip together and to our staff for making the day memorable for the
students.
We look forward to another exciting week coming up as we plan to have Thanksgiving with our students on Wednesday! Hope your weekend is a great one.
From the Desk of Mrs. Methvin
Greetings IGA Family,
Wow! What an EXCITING week at IGA with education reimagined! Our week began with a local field trip to Mr. and Mrs. Josh White’s house. The students listened to Halloween stories, made spooky snacks, played games, and enjoyed a hayride around the neighborhood. We want to express our sincere THANKS to the Whites for their holiday hospitality. It was a fun and festive time for all. Our week ended on Friday with Green and Gold Day, as a way to celebrate our Fighting Irish football team. GO IRISH!
There has been a slight increase in diagnosed influenza cases with our students. According to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, the flu is actually a serious virus. Influenza can make people quite ill and can lead to dangerous complications, so it’s important for parents to take smart steps to help prevent their children from catching it. Keeping everyone’s hands clean with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer is one of the simplest and most effective ways to stop the spread of germs. A strong immune system is also a great defense against any type of illness, including the flu. To give your child’s immunity a boost, make sure he gets enough sleep at night (usually between 8-10 hours), eats a well-rounded diet full of fruits and vegetables, and gets an hour of physical activity each day. Kids spread germs easily in places like classrooms and playgrounds. If your child does get sick, keep him/her home until he/she is fever-free for at least 24 hours. Lastly, teach your child to cough and sneeze into his/her elbow instead of his/her hands and to clean his hands after tossing out used tissues. I encourage all of our parents to become active members of our program and remember to visit our website and social media platforms regularly for current news and upcoming events. If you have any questions or concerns, please call 478-353-8490.
