ASPEN SNOWMASS
Description
The Vehicle Mechanic Internship provides an opportunity to gain experience in general maintenance and repair of Aspen Skiing Company vehicles, snowcats, snowmobiles, and heavy equipment. Working with the shop team, the Vehicle Mechanic Intern will assist in ensuring all Aspen Skiing Company equipment is safe and operating at full capacity.
Primary Duties
Diagnose and execute repairs, with supervision, on vehicles, snowcats, snowmobiles, and heavy machinery with focus on safety and efficiency
Troubleshoot, with supervision, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems to identify and resolve issues
Conduct routine and preventative maintenance with supervision to prevent breakdowns and ensure reliability during peak operational periods
Maintain and organize vehicle shop area including but not limited to sweeping floors, emptying trash and recycle bins, putting tools and equipment in proper storage areas, and maintaining shop yard and storage areas
Maintain open and professional communication with other departments to address vehicle issues and coordinate repair schedules
Assist in maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, parts inventory, and service history
Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
License / Certificates:
A valid driver’s license is required. Must be able to provide their own transportation.
Work Conditions
This role involves regular exposure to outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts, fumes, and loud noise; and occasional exposure to hazardous materials, chemicals, electrical shock, and vibrations. It also may require travel between different areas of the ski resort.
Physical Requirements
Students must be able to lift and move heavy objects (over 50 pounds) and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity. Other physical demands may include standing, walking, operating machinery, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or balancing.
