Kiwanis Book Fair
Clinton Valley Kiwanis visited Emerson on Friday with a free book fair. Every student at Emerson was able to pick out two free books! Kiwanis volunteers Norma Krussman, Erika LaVigne, Wilma Miller, and Pat Wybo were present to help students choose their books. Clinton Valley Kiwanis rotates through the school districts to pick which schools receive the free book fair. Emerson is the 4th Fraser school to be chosen! Thank you Clinton Valley Kiwanis!
Jimmy Johns Field
The third grade took a tour of Jimmy John’s Field this week. Through our reading genre units, students read the book “The Hit Away Kid” which centers around baseball. Students learned about the game in preparation to read the book and visited the field to learn more! They enjoyed a day touring the field and playing at the Jimmy John’s Field Kid Zone as well. It was a great day for everyone!
Market Day
The third and fourth grade classes were given an opportunity to learn more about economics through a project-based learning experience. Leaders from the Fraser High School CTE program helped students prepare for an exciting afternoon Market Day! The fourth grade prepared items to sell at their own shops, acting as producers in the activity. Students made slime, bracelets, wood carvings, paper airplanes, and even provided services such as fingernail painting, hair braiding, teaching basketball drills, painting skills, and dance moves. The third graders acted as consumers, being the purchasers of the goods and services. Students had a wonderful afternoon, all thanks to the work of the CTE leaders! Thank you for an awesome activity, our third graders cannot wait to be the producers for Market Day next year!
