A Note From Dr. Neubeck
It is the week of May 20 and that means a week of celebrating and honoring our Seniors. The last week of school is always full of smiles and laughs for the younger students as well as smiles and some tears for our Seniors. On Friday night, we will be graduating 163 Seniors, many of whom started kindergarten as a Byron Bear. I enjoy sitting on the stage at graduation and looking at the students and seeing their excitement. I also enjoy looking into the crowd and seeing some parents with large grins and some with tears. With four kids of my own who have graduated from high school, I understand both of those emotions as it depends on which of my kids were graduating.
This Senior class is a great group of individuals who are going to go out and make a positive difference in the world. After watching them around school and in athletic competitions, talking with many of them as I walk around town, and meeting with several of them regarding their Senior Life Plans, I see these Seniors as kind, confident, motivated and resilient. They have to be as these students went through COVID about the time they were getting ready for high school. I am proud of these students for all of their accomplishments and successes and I know that they will represent Byron well as alumni. Thank you Seniors!
I also want to say thank you and congratulations to the parents of these Seniors and the many staff who have worked with them throughout the years. It has been your dedication, guidance, and care that have helped these Seniors make it and be successful. I know some days you may have wondered if you and them would ever make it, but you made it. This graduation is also for you and you should be very proud of yourselves. Thank you for being great partners and being supportive of our staff.
For all other students and their families, Friday marks another year completed and I hope a year full of great growth and success. I hope that you have a great and relaxing summer and we look forward to seeing the students again in the fall.
Go Bears!
