Happy New Year, Muckleshoot Families!
I want to take a moment and thank you for your support and partnership during the start of the school year. We hope you had a wonderful winter break with your students and we are so excited to be back in school with them. We want to take a moment to introduce the Elementary Admin Team.
Principal: Krista Yi
I have truly enjoyed the start of the 24-25 school year and getting to know students and families. I have been in the field of education for 25 years. Most of my teaching experience was at the elementary level and I have 8 years of administration experience at the elementary level.
Assistant Principal: Andrew Upchurch
I am excited to get to know students and families here at MTS. I spent 6 years as an elementary school teacher before getting my administration credentials from the University of Washington. I love building relationships with students and families. I enjoy hiking, fishing, skiing, and playing sports. I became an educator to help students and staff reach their full potential and become the person they were meant to be.
Dean Of Students: Jason Russell
I have been in education for 20 years. I am a proponent of Restorative Practices and supporting professional development regarding community circles. I love working with young people and fostering their imaginations to become more than they can imagine.
Cell Phones:
Cell phones are continuing to be a distraction for students at the elementary level. Students are using cellphones during instructional time. In alignment with Policy and Procedure 3705 - Students and Telecommunication Devices, we are asking for your support in working with your students to have cell phones put away during school hours.
Secondary - Rick Brownell
As we kick off the new year, we're excited to welcome our students back to the classroom and jump into a fresh start! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are ready for the rest of this year's learning and growing.
We do have our Interim state testing for ELA and Math, on Jan. 14th-16th for all secondary, 6th through 12th grades. Also, January 30th, is the last day of our first semester. Please remind your student to get all their work turned in.
Please continue to remind your student that cell phones are not allowed during class time unless directed by the teacher. We hope to keep all students engaged and learning throughout the class period. You might receive an email Friday afternoon if your student needs a reminder of this new policy. Thanks for all your help and support!
Look at what MTS Business Class is doing!

No Place for Hate
December was an exciting month!
Our team of dedicated students created a raffle that encouraged deliberate acts of kindness. Over 30 teachers donated experiences or items for students to enter to win. Students earned raffle tickets for saying kind things, helping their peers, and respecting staff and families on campus. In 4 days, over 1100 tickets were given out. Not only did we all have fun, many staff members and students reported an increase in positive behaviors!
