Estimadas familias de Woodcrest,

I hope this letter finds you well, enjoying the last bits of summer and gearing up for a new school year. August is always a busy time in schools, full of learning and planning, as we prepare to welcome our students to a new school year. We are so excited to see them for our first day of school Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

Please know that we are here to partner with you on your child throughout this year. We’re including here some information to help in your back-to-school planning.

Find your child’s teacher – August 26
Find who your child’s teacher is on Monday, August 26 in Campus Parent Portal. Teachers also will be reaching out to families to introduce themselves. Last spring, our staff spent time grouping students into cohorts before placing those groups with teachers. Personal Learner Profiles and Learner Maps, along with teacher and parent input, continue to be used to guide these decisions.

We are also taking great care in creating classroom rosters for our incoming kindergarten students. Many of our kindergarten families are signed up for Kinder Camp on August 20-22. This is a great opportunity for students to experience Woodcrest and start acclimating to the routines and structures of kindergarten. We will use all the information from that time together to create classrooms of students to pair with each of our wonderful kindergarten teachers.

Meet and Greet – Wednesday, August 28

You are invited to Woodcrest to meet your child’s teacher and see your child’s classroom on Wednesday, August 28, 4-6 p.m. In an effort to manage traffic flow, both inside the building and in the parking lot, we are asking that families come at the times designated by your last name:

Families with last names starting with A – M: Please come between 4-5 p.m.
Families with last names starting with N – Z: Please come between 5–6 p.m.

You will have the opportunity to visit with your student’s teacher in their classroom. Your student is invited to bring their school supplies. Non-classroom teachers and staff will be located outside on our front lawn, weather permitting, and in the lobby area. Our administrative staff will be available to take care of any needs you may have in the main office.

If you are not able to attend and would like to connect with your child’s teacher, please contact our Woodcrest office at 763-600-5800.
