FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Happy Sunny Friday Hawkins Families,
It was so nice to have a sunny week where the students can get outside and enjoy the weather. As the weather warms we know that our fight with the bees will start. We will do the best we can and will have an exterminator out often. A reminder for the playground, if you stay after school please try to encourage your children to follow the same safety rules we follow during the day. This consistency will help here and keep the kids safe. If you are not sure just ask, “is that allowed at school”? I am so excited for the Hawkins Spring Carnival and Silent Auction which will take place next Friday, May 20th from 5-8 pm. I have not had a chance to see it in my three years here, but if it is anything like the rest of the PTO events this year it will be incredible! I want to give a huge thank you to Mr. O’Neil for all of his work in our outdoor classroom as well as our 4th grade Girl Scouts. Under the direction of Mrs. Sinz’s class, it is starting to look amazing. Have a great weekend!

Counseling Corner
Counselor Corner!
Well, we made it to the final stretch of the year! The last few weeks, when the sun is shining and energy is high! And after so many months of hurdles and challenges, it is time to celebrate all that we accomplished and overcame during this school year. The Elementary Counselors would like to take time this month to celebrate our students and highlight their amazing strengths. We plan to take time with classrooms to focus on lessons missed at some other point in the year or revisit specific topics that need a refresher. We want to end this year on a positive note and recognize how truly resilient our students are, and we hope that you take some time at home to do this as well.
Thank you for the amazing support from our staff and parents as we worked to connect with and support all of our students this year. We are already working towards our plans for next school year and look forward to expanding our avenues of support.
More Resources: We also have our BAS Elementary Counseling website for ideas and resources to be used at home!

New Program Coming!! Hawkins G.I.F.F.T Giving Immediately For Families Today
Throughout the pandemic, many individuals and families have struggled through job loss, illness, or other traumatic situations. Oftentimes, these situations can place a financial burden on families. We would like to ease some of the financial burden by providing food and home essentials to families who are applying for or waiting for other assistance. While there are multiple resources available in our community, these resources may take days or even weeks to access and some require multiple steps. Our goal is to fulfill this need immediately and there are also no income based restrictions to the resource. There will be a small questionnaire to fill out. This is only for us to help with your needs the best we can and will not be shared with anybody outside the G.I.F.F.T. program.
If you have experienced a short-term financial hardship and do not qualify for assistance elsewhere, Hawkins G.I.F.F.T. is here to help you. If this is a service your family could benefit from please fill out this referral form:
