South Lebanon Elementary Newsletter
May/June 2024
News from Mr. Brown
Dear South Lebanon Families,
It is hard to believe that we are in our last full month of school! The support that you have shown for our students and staff during the 2023-2024 school year has truly been a blessing. We thank you for your unwavering commitment to the South Lebanon Elementary community.
Over the past two weeks we have wrapped up our annual PSSA testing. It was wonderful to see our students working hard to show what they have learned. You should receive your child's results from the Pennsylvania Department of Education sometime in the late summer or early fall. These assessments certainly do not define our students, but they do assist us in measuring where students are at in their educational journey.
As the school year comes to a close, if you know of any families with an incoming kindergartener, please share that these families must register their child for the 2024-2025 school year. Additionally, please keep an eye out over the summer months for communication regarding the 24-25 school year. We are looking forward to the all of the fun and excitement that the last month of school brings. Please read the articles below for more information.
Sincerely,
Mark D. Brown, Ed. D.

Your note should include the siblings' names, teacher's name and who will be signing the children out after the program. We will send a reminder home the week before the ceremony, this is just to get the information out in enough time for people to make plans to attend if they would like to do so. Reminders from the Nurse's Office
State Mandate Dentals and Physicals:
There are still quite a few students missing dentals and physicals from this school year. Please get them to me ASAP so that we can close out the year with all records complete.
Next year's (2024-2025) third grade parents, please send in your child's dental form requesting either a private or school dental exam for next year. For those of you who have the exams completed over the summer, feel free to mail them to the school during the Summer break.
Next year's (2024-2025) sixth grade parents, please send in your child's Health History form ASAP so they can be processed in time for the transfer of Health Records to the Middle School. The health History form needs to be completed by a parent/guardian even if you choose to have a school physical done. For those of you who have the physical completed over the break, you may mail them to the Middle School nurse over the Summer.
Please remember medication permission forms and medical care plans must be completed each school year.
Medication Reminder:
According to our district policy, MEDICATION CAN NOT BE TRANSPORTED TO OUR FROM SCHOOL BY A STUDENT. THEREFORE, ALL MEDICATIONS MUST BE PICKED UP BY AN ADULT. If your child has medication in the nurse's office, please pick up prior to the last day of school (June 7, 2024). If you are unable to pick up medication prior to school ending, medication can be picked up in the main office by June 10, 2024. Any medication remaining in the nurse's office after June 21, 2024 will be discarded.

National Association of Music Merchants
We recently received notification that the Cornwall-Lebanon School District has been recognized by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) as one of the country’s Best Communities for Music Education! This is the 9th consecutive year we have been honored with this designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education.
It joins 975 districts across the country in receiving this prestigious award. The award program recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders who have made music education part of a well-rounded education. Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education. Districts that have been recognized by the NAMM Foundation are often held up as models for other educators looking to boost their own music education programs. To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Cornwall-Lebanon School District answered detailed questions about district music educators (education, instructional approach, involvement within community), music offerings within the district, funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instructional time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
Thank you to all the administrators, teachers, students, parents and community members for your support of music education! This is truly a celebration for everyone!
