The Ludwig Ledger
December 2023
Dear Ludwig Families,
I hope all of our Ludwig Families had a relaxing Thanksgiving break. Thank you to everyone who signed up and attended our P/T conferences and to everyone who supported our Scholastic Book Fair. We always enjoy opening up our doors to the community to showcase how our students are progressing in their educational journey.
It's so hard to believe that we're already well into the month of December. With the hustle and bustle of the holidays quickly approaching, there are numerous ways to stay connected with your child's learning at school:
Regularly visit our Virtual BackPack on our Ludwig School Website
Review your child’s classroom website and teacher newsletters
Call and/or email if you have any questions for your child's teachers
Encourage your child to read each night at home
Routinely check your child’s backpack, Friday folders, and assignment notebooks
As I mentioned at our Open House event in August, continuing to show a united front between home and school will help ensure our students thrive and build on their successes here at school. We look forward to partnering with you, into the new year, to continue to develop 21st Century learners who are ready to tackle any challenges that await!
From everyone here at Ludwig School, to you and yours at home, we wish you a safe, happy, and healthy holiday season. Please take time to spend some quality time with your family and friends, and we look forward to seeing our students return to school on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024.
Respectfully,
Mr. Kulik

Veterans Day Celebration
On Friday, November 10th, Ludwig School hosted a Veterans Day Celebration. We had over 30 Veterans and their family members in attendance. Thank you to all who have served across the 5 branches of the US military. We are all indebted to your bravery and sacrifice.
"This nation will remain the land of the free so long as it is the home of the brave." - Elmer Davis
Below are just a few photo highlights from our ceremony. Please take a moment to view our Veteran Recognition Slideshow, as it provides a moving tribute to those Veterans who are connected to our Ludwig School families.
Operation Support Our Troops - D92 Total
As a District, WCSD 92 donated 1,022 pounds of items for our troops overseas. Thank you to all the families, staff, and students who donated to such a worthy cause! These donated items are just a small token of our appreciation for all that our servicemen and servicewomen do for our county.
Updates from the Nurse
FLU and COLD prevention reminder:
As Flu and Cold season is upon us, please remember to practice good hand hygiene and proper cough etiquette. Flus and colds are easily spread and transmitted by touching commonly contaminated surfaces and through droplets in the air that are not properly contained. Please wash your hands frequently, especially after touching contaminated surfaces, and cover coughs and sneezes with your elbow when possible.
Please see the link below for more guidance from CDC on preventing the common cold:

A friendly reminder about cough drops:
If your child requires cough drops while at school, please check to make sure that your student is well enough to attend school before sending them to school. Cough drops are to be kept in the nurse's office and require a signed note from the student's parent or guardian. We do this for a couple of different reasons. First, it prevents the student from eating too many cough drops too quickly, which could likely cause a stomach ache. Secondly, it gives the nurse a chance to see if symptoms are worsening while the student is at school. Lastly, by having a signed note from the parent, we know that the parent is aware that their student brought in cough drops.
OTC and Rx medication reminder:
Please note that all OTC and prescription medications are to be brought to school by an adult (with limited exceptions including some specific lifesaving medications). Students are not to transport medications to school, take medications while at school, or have medications with or on them without a signed order from a doctor, or when applicable, a signed self-carry form (inhalers). Parents are welcome to bring medications to school and administer them, as needed, to their student if there is currently no doctor's order on file.
Thanks, and please let me know if you have any questions,
Nurse Patti
Ludwig School Culture Goal
As part of Ludwig's Culture Goal this school year, we continue to strive to provide a positive feedback loop to both our students and staff. When students go above and beyond at school, they have the opportunity to earn a "Golden Ticket" and enter the Principal's 200 Club. Students are then recognized in Ludwig's main office, on the bulletin board outside the main office, and during our afternoon all-school announcements. Parents also receive a positive phone call home!
If you have a Ludwig staff member who has gone above and beyond for your child or your family, please take a brief moment to recognize them on our "Caring, Compassionate, Community Recognition Form." This form will be active all school year long, and feedback will be provided to the staff members who were recognized. Thank you to everyone who has already submitted someone for recognition!
