Dear Nord Families,

December is always a special time filled with excitement, community spirit, and opportunities to celebrate the joy of learning together. I am so proud of our students for their hard work and kindness, our teachers for their dedication and creativity, and our families for their ongoing support and involvement. Together, we’ve created a nurturing environment where our children can grow, thrive, and succeed. As we prepare for the holiday season and a well-deserved winter break, I encourage you to take time to celebrate your child’s growth and achievements.

As a reminder, the Amherst Exempted Village School District will have a two-hour early release for all schools on Friday, December 20th. Walter G. Nord School will begin dismissal at 1:10 pm with walkers and car riders. Busses will depart shortly after and the main office will close at 1:30 pm. School resumes on Tuesday, January 7th.

The Kindness Crew has been sponsoring "12 Days of Kindness" in the days leading up to Winter Break. Each morning the day's act of kindness is shared on the announcements and displayed on the bulletin board in the main hall. Thank you to our Kindness Crew for helping to spread kindness at Nord!

All Amherst students have access to the Sora Library which is a digital shared library that can be accessed from any device 24 hours a day. The Sora Library can be access through the ClassLink Launchpad.

Students may email Mrs. Schwartz with book requests. Please contact Mrs. Schwartz with any questions about this resource.

Mrs. Schwartz is the district's Technology Innovation Specialist and hosts a podcast here at Nord called Reading with the Comets. On this podcast, students talk about books that they love and that they think you should read too. Check out the most recent podcast by clicking here.

The next Nord PTO meeting is on Monday, January 13th at 9:00 am at Nord School. If you would like the link to join virtually, please submit this form.

On the first Wednesday of each month, Nord PTO hosts a Dine-to-Donate fundraiser at a local restaurant. The next Dine-to-Donate fundraiser is on Wednesday, February 5th at Freddy's. Flyers will be sent home with students before the event.
