Prayer for Reconciliation
God of all creation,
as we journey together in this Great Southern Land,
we pray for healing, forgiveness and unity,
creating a path of good will, with justice and compassion.
Jesus, through the power of your love, you have given us the courage,
wisdom and strength to share our gifts and talents in humility.
In peace and understanding we reconcile with each other.
Creator Spirit, we come together in prayer and thanksgiving for the many blessings we have received. Allow your Spirit to wash over us and give us strength to walk together as one.
Dates to Remember
Behaviour Management
Currently we have a whole school focus on following school and class rules, wearing uniform correctly and general use of manners. Our teachers can spend a great deal of time dealing with these issues which then takes away from important teaching and learning time.
Managing student behaviour is the key to successful classroom outcomes. We need to support our students by proactively teaching them clearly what behaviour is expected of them and how it will help them to succeed. When our rules or routines are broken or not followed the students will have a consequence to help remind them of our expectations. Currently this consequence is time out at recess or lunch time. For more serious issues, leadership will be involved, and parents informed. It is also important to note that our teachers are using a range of extrinsic and intrinsic rewards to encourage and value good behaviour.
The targeted whole school approach has so far had a positive effect in the classroom. If parents/carers could reinforce the importance of this at home with your children, it would be greatly appreciated. I thank you for your support as we work in partnership to assist the students in achieving positive outcomes.
National Reconciliation Week
This week is National Reconciliation Week and the theme for 2024, Now More Than Ever, is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will —and must —continue. National Reconciliation Week started as the Week of Prayer for Reconciliation in 1993 (the International Year of the World’s Indigenous Peoples) and was supported by Australia’s major faith communities. In 1996, the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation launched Australia’s first National Reconciliation Week.
In 2001, Reconciliation Australia was established to continue to provide national leadership on reconciliation. In the same year, approximately 300,000 people walked across Sydney Harbour Bridge as part of National Reconciliation Week-and subsequently across bridges in cities and towns-to show their support for reconciliation. Today, National Reconciliation Week is celebrated in workplaces, schools and early learning services, community organisations and groups, and by individuals Australia-wide.
Grandparents Mass/Morning Tea
Our Grandparents and Friends Mass and Morning Tea on Tuesday was a fantastic celebration and very well attended. The students did an amazing job and were very well prepared by our teachers. It was great to have our special visitors in the classrooms and around the school. I have had some wonderful messages from parents, grandparents, staff and students saying how much they enjoyed the morning. Thank you to the P&F for organising the food, coffee and tea, they went down a treat! Well done to everyone involved.

EDUDANCE CONCERT
We have our Edu-dance Concert happening in Week 9 (Wednesday 12th June) in the Parish Hall. As in previous years, two concerts will be held to enable all family members to attend if they wish. The PP – Year 6 students will be attending both concerts.
Details of the concerts are:
CONCERT 1: 2.10pm (Years 6, 2, PP and 4)
CONCERT 2: 2.35pm (Years 5, 1, 3 and 6)
Parents and family members are asked to attend only the concert/s of their child/ren’s class. This is to ensure that everyone can attend and have the opportunity to view their child’s performance. There will be a 5-10 minute changeover at the end of the first concert to allow parents/family members to exit the hall and the new parents to enter. The Hall will open at 1.40pm.
Report Time is Coming!
Semester One reports for students will be available for parents on SEQTA Engage at the end of Term 2, so now is the time for you to check your login to make sure you have access.
New families from Year 1 to Year 6 and all Pre Primary families will have received a welcome email this week directing you to set up your account for SEQTA Engage. Both parents have been sent the email, however if you are happy to operate just one login for both parents, you don’t need to set up the second one. If you can’t see the email in your inbox please check your Junk or Spam folders as sometimes these emails will appear there as they are sent in bulk.
Kindy reports are sent home with the children and are not available on SEQTA Engage.
Please check your access now and contact the office if you have any problems. Don’t wait until the last week of term to check.
