Happy Friday to you all. It was a fun and unusual end to the week here at Duniway as we had our annual field day today as well as an unexpected early release. It was my first Field Day experience at Duniway and I was blown away by all the cool activities and games organized by our awesome PE teacher Lisa Kosher. It was also great to see all of the support provided by our family volunteers. This was a great way to wrap up our second week of the new school year. Also, as today was an unexpected "early release" day, I wanted to clarify that the school provides lunch to students on early release days. Looking at the PPS Calendar, there are eight early release days scheduled (when school ends @ 11:50am) and these are scheduled on Wednesdays towards the end of the month. Our first scheduled early release day is Wednesday, September 25 and dismissal is at 11:50am.
Looking ahead to next week, we are looking forward to diving more fully into our various curricula in Language Arts, Math and our "Content Rotations" (Science, Social Students and Health). As part of our beginning of the year routine, we will be giving students various diagnostic assessments in Reading (MAP) and Math (MAP and I-Ready) to get a better sense of where our students are at academically. We look forward to getting to know our students in multiple ways to help them grow and prosper this upcoming school year.
