Gator Tracks Family Update
Week of May 13th, 2024
Dear AVPS Families,
A huge thank you to our families for attending the Gruffalo performances, poetry cafe and for being cheering squads at the Road Races, basketball games and tournaments. We are so happy to have you share in the joy of students' learning, achievement and extra-curriculars.
As today is Mother's Day, we want to acknowledge all of the caregivers in our Gators' lives. We appreciate all that you do and thank you for your continued support.
Your partners in education,

Planning for the 2024-25 School Year
We are beginning to plan for the upcoming school year. This includes staffing, timetables and new registrations and class placements for students.
The creation of classes is a complex task that takes into account many factors. When determining placements for next year, we consider learning and academic needs, behavioural and social needs and class size. Our ultimate goal is to create balanced classrooms that maximize the potential for student learning.
We recognize that, in a few individual cases, there may be important reasons why a specific placement is requested. In these cases, please submit a written or emailed request to the office (amstv@limestone.on.ca) indicating the reasons for your request. The request should identify the optimal conditions for your child’s success. Please note: we are not accepting requests for a specific teacher. We will do our best to accommodate your child’s needs but cannot guarantee specific placements. All written requests must be received no later than May 31, 2024.
If you are moving, whether locally or to another city, please also let us know as this information helps us in planning.
We appreciate your support and understanding in this matter. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Human Development and Sexual Health Expectations by Grade and Exemption Form
The updated Ontario Curriculum, Grades 1-8: Health and Physical Education, 2019 is designed to help all students reach their full potential through a program of learning that is coherent, relevant, and age appropriate.
Exemption policy: For students in Grades 1 - 8, the government has issued a Policy/Program Memorandum that requires school boards to develop a policy/procedure allowing caregivers to exempt their child from instruction of the Human Development and Sexual Health Education component of the elementary Health and Physical Education curriculum.
Caregivers are invited to learn more about the Human Development and Sexual Health Expectations by Grade. Should caregivers wish to exempt their student from this instruction, they are required to complete an exemption form for each elementary student for each school year as per Administrative Policy 325: Exemption From Human Development and Sexual Health Instruction, Grades 1 to 8.
