Cherry Drive Weekly Update

It was a great first week of fall! Thank you to our families who attended our Cheetah Pride assembly. We are proud of the students being recognized. In reccent weeks, we have had some parents/guardians calling the office with questions or concerns about things happening in classrooms. We respectfully ask that all parents/guardians please always reach out to your child's teacher prior to contacting the office or administration as the best first step. That is the most effective way to stay in the loop about your child's progress and success at school.

We are excited to offer 15 afterschool clubs this year. Some clubs will start in a few weeks and others start later in the year. We will have an interest form for parents/guardians to sign up at Parent Teacher Conferences on October 3rd and 10th. Once we gather that information, club leaders will reach out to families directly with permission slips and other information. If you have questions about a club, please reach out to the club sponsor directly. You can access their email addresses on our school website, under staff directory. If you do not attend conferences, you can still share your interest by emailing the club leader.

Below is a list of the clubs and the teacher leaders. It does not include a description, grades or dates/times; however, that information will be provided in an email early next week and at conferences. Most clubs are free but a few have a small fee for supplies and materials. Please look for more club information next week.

We have many students who don't bring snack to school. We would appreciate snack donations to ensure students have all their needs met. We are looking for individually packaged goldfish, pretzels, and graham crackers. Please drop them off in the main office. Thank you for your consideration.

Conferences will be held over two evenings in October (3rd & 10th). Sign up here for a 15 minute time slot. Our teachers could use some snacks to get through two long days/evenings of conferences. Sign up to donate a snack or drink here. Please turn snacks into the main office by Wednesday, 10/2.

Come HUNGRY because we will have food trucks at both conference nights! Why cook dinner when you can eat at Cherry Drive! We will have tables set up outside by the food trucks.

Please RSVP here if you plan to come to the Donuts with Grownups on October 8th. This will help us determine how much food to purchase. Students and their chosen grownup can shop at our Book Fair and enjoy a delicious donut treat!

We are one week into our Pumpkin Run fundraiser. Check out this slidedeck or watch this funny video with some special celebrity guests with all the information you need to know about our upcoming fundraiser. Students were very excited to start collecting pledges when we announced the fundraiser on Tuesday. Your support of our school helps in so many ways and directly impacts our students and staff. Sign up to Decorate your car for Trunk or Treat

Have fun and get creative decorating your car for our Trunk or Treat at the Fall Fest Carnival! Anyone can sign up, not just CDE families! If you are in need of Trunk-or-Treat ideas, you can check out some creative ideas here. SIGN UP HERE.

Families must reapply for free and reduced benefits each new school year. You will receive your eligibility letter in the mail or by email. United States citizenship or immigration status is not a condition of eligibility for free and reduced benefits.

Here are the many ways the benefits can help you:

• Your child’s school can receive additional funding to enhance the educational experience for all students.
• School fees can be waived or reduced. These include athletic fees, course fees and activity and field trip fees tied to curriculum.
• Students in grades 9-12 can receive assistance with post-graduation planning, scholarships, state and national testing (including SAT, ACT, Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate), and post-secondary enrollment.
• Families can qualify for additional resources, such as medical, food and cash assistance.
