CPES BobChat (New Family Edition)

Welcome New Families!! We are so excited to meet you and look forward to you joining our school family at Cherry Park. We will have a drop-in for all families who will have children starting kindergarten next year on Wednesday, May 29 from 5:30-6:30. Parents and children can come see classrooms and tour the school. This is also a time to ask questions if you'd like. (Know that we will provide lots of information this summer as well.) Families can park at the lower parking lot and car loop off of Cherry Road. You will walk to the kindergarten playground and enter classes from there. We are excited about all that is ahead and we look forward to meeting you on May 29.

We are fortunate that our district supports a staggered start for our rising kindergarten children each fall. Half of our kindergarten students will come August 8-9 (but not August 12-13.) The other half of kindergarten comes August 12-13 (but not August 8-9). All kindergarten students come on August 14 and every day after that. This allows our little ones to have more individual attention and ease the transition to a new learning environment before the rest of the class comes. We will provide you with more information about this as it gets closer to the start of the year.

Rock Hill Schools partners with York County First Steps to offer Countdown to 4K and Countdown to Kindergarten. These are FREE programs to assist your child and family with their transition from home to school.

DO YOU HAVE A RISING 4K OR KINDERGARTEN STUDENT?

Teachers complete six, one-hour visits with each child’s family, five visits in the family’s home, and one final visit in the child’s future kindergarten classroom. These visits include:

--In-home coaching with trained parent educators

--A focus on language and literacy development

--Learning experiences for professionals
