Brighton Brickert, 3rd grade: Brighton worked really hard during the MOY i-Ready Diagnostic. He didn't rush at all and used the RDW strategy to make sure he understood the questions correctly. He not only met his Stretch Growth goal but also had one of the highest growth scores in the class.

4th Annual Luminaria Night - Thursday, December 5th - Volunteers Needed & Bags Still Available!
Enjoy an evening on campus with your family and friends. Get into the holiday spirit with musical performances, food and drinks, art displays & more! Volunteers are needed on December 5th. If you did not order your Luminaria Bags you can still do so over the holiday break and pick them up locally from the PTO.
Holiday Toy Drive - December 2nd - December 5th
This holiday season Gavilan Peak will be hosting our 2nd Annual Toy Drive to benefit The Foster Alliance. Please consider donating a new, unwrapped item from their wishlist. We will be collecting donated items before school at both entrances December 2nd-5th and at the Luminaria event.
Canned Food Drive for St Vincent de Paul's starts December 6th
We are collecting canned, dried and long-life foods for our local chapter of St Vincent de Paul's Food Bank

For October and November, we have been focusing on respect. We culminated with a special recognition assembly with games and fun!
Kindergarten
We had a very thankful week learning with our friends!
Spark Kinder Enrichment
Kittens First Full Moon- we acted out sequence of events with their bodies and talked about problem solution. Students showed their favorite kitty face in an activity as we discussed feelings tied to the story.
6th grade SAGE
End of novel extension project for Esperanza Rising-students made yarn dolls like mama made in the book as well as a depth and complexity activity on perspective.
3rd grade SAGE
End of novel extension activity for The Green Book -students created their vision of the new planet Shine
Middle School Forensic Science
8th graders took their fingerprints and classified them according to the 3 main types of prints.
Turkey bowling!
A fun time was had by all and we raised some money for PE equipment!
Thanksgiving Lunch
We had a great time with a lot of families (110 adults!) who joined us to celebrate Thanksgiving!
