It's a Wrap! FALL BOOK FAIR
Thanks so much to everyone who supported our PTA-sponsored Scholastic Fall Book Fair. It was fun to see all the excited students perusing the books, and we had over $9,000 in sales thanks to your generosity. Whether you worked a volunteer shift, created an eWallet, or attended Donuts with a Grownup, your support contributed to the success of our book fair!
For our spring book fair, we'll be trying a new book fair vendor: Literati Book Fairs. Please mark your calendars for MARCH 31st-APRIL 4th, and more information about the spring book fair will be forthcoming after Winter Break.
NEW this year!
Although our school year is well underway, there are several NEW things to look forward to in the Hedgcoxe Library this school year. We are looking forward to:
- NEW BOOKS- Mrs. Berry was able to place two book orders this fall, and at least one more large book order will be placed in the spring.
- NEW eBOOKS & AUDIOBOOKS- Many of our students are already utilizing SORA ebooks and audiobooks from their webdesks, and the others will receive instruction on how to use those during upcoming library classes. If your student does not have the SORA app on their webdesk but you would like them to have access, then please visit the parent permissions in Skyward Family Access to change the ebook permission for your student(s) from no to yes.
- NEW LIBRARY SYSTEM- Right after Winter Break, all PISD libraries will migrate to a new library system. Our school community will have access to training for how to use all the great features this new program will offer.
Numbers Help Tell Our Story
The Hedgcoxe Library is a busy place! Check out the infographic at the link below to see several statistics of our library's usage for the first 9-weeks of school: How many books were checked out, our students' favorite checkouts, and more!

How to Access PISD's Online Resources
Effective this school year, a separate username and password is no longer needed to access PISD's online databases and resources from home. Instead, students can access Brittanica, Pebble Go, Culture Grams, and more just by being signed into their PISD Webdesk from any browser. If you have any questions about accessing or using these resources from home, please reach out to Mrs. Berry at karen.berry@pisd.edu.
Plano Public Libraries
Any month is a good month to take advantage of the many offerings from our Plano Public Libraries! Access their website HERE for information about how to obtain a library card, a schedule of upcoming special events, and more. I love to hear from our students all that they access, check out, and enjoy from these amazing facilities.
