Madonna Catholic School News
April 4, 2025
Dear Madonna Catholic School Community,
Welcome back! We hope that the break last week was a good opportunity for your family to enjoy the change in routine and perhaps create some lasting memories. With only two weeks left until Easter, this is a great time to reflect, renew our hearts, and stay committed to the Lenten promises we made.
This Sunday, April 6, 2025, we will hear the Gospel reading from Mark 14:1—15:47, which tells the story of Jesus’ suffering and sacrifice. This reading helps us remember how much Jesus loves us. While the story is long and sometimes difficult to understand, there are important lessons we can all learn:
-
Jesus Shows Courage and Love – Jesus knew He would suffer, but He trusted God’s plan and chose love. We can learn from Him by trusting God when life is hard and showing love to others, even when it’s difficult.
-
The Power of Kindness – Some people hurt Jesus, but others, like Simon of Cyrene, helped Him carry the cross. We can ask ourselves: How can we be like Simon and help someone this week?
-
Forgiveness is a Gift – Even while suffering on the cross, Jesus forgave those who hurt Him. This reminds us that we should always be ready to forgive, just like Jesus forgives us.
As we continue our journey toward Easter, let’s think about how we can live out these lessons—by being kind, helping others, and forgiving those who hurt us. May we walk together in faith as we prepare our hearts for the joy of Easter!

Iqualut Presentation - Grade 2
2L & 2M welcomed Goota Desmarais in to talk about life in Iqaluit. She had many interesting artifacts for the students to see and even offered them the opportunity to try arctic char and narwhal meat (the Inuit's version of bubblegum)!
The Wild Robot
The Grade 2 class of Mrs. MacLean's read the Wild Robot by Peter Brown. Just before spring break, the students choose their final project; a diorama, building a lodge or designing a movie poster. They had time over spring break to think about what and how they were going to complete their projects. On Monday, they were given class time to finish any last minute items, and complete their write up about their project; why that scene was important to the book, how their lodge would keep characters like Rox and Brightbill safe. After presenting to the class on Wednesday and Thursday, we displayed our projects in the library and invited other classes and parents to come and see all our hard work. Great job Grade 2! You did such amazing pieces to showcase your learning!

SYSTEMIC WELLNESS
April 1st "Brownies" for all!
Our student's thought they might've been receiving some "brownies" for a treat on April 1st...but sadly they were caught in a silly April Fool's Day trick. Thank you to our gracious students for having some fun with our staff and laughing along with the April Fools Day humor...even though they only received brown construction paper letter "E's".
April 2 Hat Day!
