The Stingray Review
Seaside Elementary
Dear Seaside Families,
Believe it or not we only have twelve days left of the 23-24 school year. We have ten full days and then on June 4th and June 5th those will be half days. School gets out 2.5 hours early on those half days. Parents of Ms. McCrea's child development class and parents of Ms. Cranford's early childhood special education classes please don't forget that your student (s) last day is on Friday May 24. We hope you have a wonderful and safe summer! It has been a pleasure getting to know your child this school year and being able to watch the amazing growth that they have had this school year! We would like to thank all of our first grade families who were able to come out to our "Informance" that was held this past week. Ms. Baut and our first graders had a wonderful time showcasing their talents in music. We are proud of all of our students as we are almost completed with our end of the year assessments. We have SC Ready Science for 4th graders on May 21st and then our TDW writing field testing for 3rd and 4th graders will be on May 23rd. We also have any make-ups for SC Ready, MAP testing for 1st graders, and our K-2 DIBELS testing finishing up. Thank you to all of our families for your hard work and dedication as we close this year out. A lot of our students have asked me and I am pleased to let them know on Monday that we will be holding our school wide Pizza Party sponsored by Big Air on Wednesday, May 22. Please have a wonderful and safe weekend Seaside families! We will see everyone back at school on Monday, May 20, 2024.
Sincerely,
Andrew Ball Ed. D

Please check your child's backpack!
Seaside Families, I cannot stress this enough. We are seeing a big increase with things that should be staying at home. Please check your child's backpack for inappropriate items, personal electronic devices, toys, stuffed animals, Pokemon cards, sports cards, plush toys, key chains etc. We do not want your child losing their personal items. We are not responsible for any lost items. We do not want any items coming to school that may cause a safety issue or cause your child to get into trouble. Students do not need to bring any sports equipment or balls to school. We have more than enough equipment for students to use. Please note for the 24-25 school year that all schools in Horry County will be going to clear book bags. You will see this information when registering your student (s) for next school year.

Traffic Reminder!
For safety purposes I am reminding all of our parents that between the hours of 7-8 A.M. and 2-3 P.M. there is a sign at the end of the road that says to make a right turn on to Highway 17. Please be safe and follow all road signs. Thank you for your help with this.
Safety Drills!
Safety Drills happen monthly! Our Stingrays have done an amazing job following all of our safety procedures for our safety drills. We are so proud of them! Please check out the different types of safety drills that we will be conducting throughout the entire school year.
Attendance Information
Arrival and Dismissal Reminders!
Our doors open for our students at 7 A.M.
- Breakfast begins at 7 A.M. and ends at 7:35 A.M.
- Tardy bell rings at 7:40 A.M. (Please make sure you are on time.) Our car rider line is empty from 7-7:25. Everything starts to pick up right at the last 15 minutes.
- Dismissal is at 2:40. If you are picking up in the car rider line, please have your car rider tag on your dash board the entire time or you will be asked to park and come to the front office.
Attendance Matters!
Research shows that consistent attendance is a critical piece of student success. Absences with doctor notes (medical, eye, dentist) will be marked as medically excused. If absent due to death in the family an obituary or memorial information is needed to excuse for bereavement.
If any of the following occur Horry County Schools requires an attendance meeting to implement an AIP (Attendance Intervention Plan):
- 3 consecutive unexcused absences
- 5 accumulative unexcused absences
- 10 unexcused tardy/early sign-outs
