Our Black History Month Celebration came to a close on 2/28 with our assembly- Webb Wildcats Presents: "Black History from Cowboys to Cowboy Carter." This was an amazing event spearheaded by Ms. Grant with special thanks to Ms. Maduro-Johnson, Ms. James, and the entire committee. We know that Black History Month may be over, but black history is in everything we do every day of the year.

Webb staff dressed the part to celebrate the last week of Black History Month.

Webb staff, families, and some students, gathered for a community dinner to discuss the needs Webb has to secure our future successes.

There were so many names listed from Webb (highlighted below). Together, we are all making great changes in our school and community. Thank you to Austin Voices for recognizing Webb.

Ms. Maduro-Johnson (pictured with Garcia Middle School's AP) attended the CIS luncheon and fundraiser to show our support after all the support CIS has given to Webb over the years.

Ms. Hernandez-James's peer tutoring with students, teach each other everything from math equations to how to create a 5 paragraph essays. We have some great future teachers!

Ms. Nava's class shows off their amazing vocabulary notes as they get ready to participate in a "Shark Tank" marketing project. The inquiry was all over this lesson!

Ms. Marquez's small groups, student trackers, and student anchors, were off the charts (pun intended). All of WICOR in just 1 lesson.

Ms. Flores wanted to bring more positivity to a day that is not always though of as the most positive, so she has moved the positive note raffles to Mondays. This is a great way to brighten up every day of the week!

While over 70% of the school was taking TELPAS, the non-testing students were engaging in lots of instructional work. Below is one of our tutors doing some reader's theater with a group of students. After their hard work, they had a chance to have activity time. See Ms. Thompson showing them how it's done on the court.

After a long-week of testing, the students (and staff) had a little time to CATCH up with each other. It was very well-deserved.

The Boys' and Girls' Club brought many of our students to participate in a basketball tournament at their main site. It's great to see so many students with safe and fun after school activities.

The Webb girls' soccer team took home 3rd place in the Division this week. The team had only 1 loss the entire season. We are so proud of all the players and coaches. Great job!

Despite a very close game, the 7th grade team lost to Lamar Middle School. The 8th grade boys also played really well but couldn't pull off the W against Dobie Middle School. We are proud of the great season and great growth we have seen on the court.

As you can see, we had a very productive week. On Saturday 3/8, we are proud to host ENCORE at Webb from 9:00-1:00. This is a great opportunity to learn about how the choices students make now will affect their pathway to college. Lunch will be served at noon. We hope to see you there!
