What's Happening??!!
~ Hawley School Newsletter: March 22, 2020 ~
From the Desk of Mr. Moretti.....
Dear Hawley Parents/Guardians, Teachers, and Staff,
I do not even know where to begin. I hope that all of you are safe and well.
I have sent out a video message that reviews information and hopefully, settles nerves. You can Click Here to see the video again.
The message I will continue to echo is that everyone just needs to do the best they can. No worries if not perfect. We will stay in touch, adjust and move forward.
Everyone will be faced with their own "reality." We will continue to support each other. Please reach out to me with any question or need that you have.
Buckle up, keep your hands and feet in the car at all times, and stay seated as you read on to find out What's Happening at Hawley .......
~ Story Time With Mr. Moretti ~
During this new normal, what I miss the most is seeing the kids. I want to stay connected. I have a library of stories that I used to read to my boys when they were little. There are 45 stories in the series. I will read them, record them, and send you the links.
Feel free to play one each day for the kids. This helps me connect to the kids, they get to see me (AND you get a 5 minute or so break ;0)

Student Work Log
Do the best that you can. We know you are not educators and have other things you are dealing with. If you or your child becomes overwhelmed, start with Reading and Math only and then build from there. Fill out the log so we get a real sense of what is being done, what CAN be done. We will use that information to adjust appropriately.
Older kids can fill the log out themselves where younger kids may need adult assistance.
The log is sent back on Friday in a manner outlined by your classroom teacher (picture, email, SeeSaw App, Class Facebook page, Google Classroom, etc).

~ Digital Learning ~
We will continue to work with families to provide devices as needed. We are starting with grade 4, then grade 3 and so on. Reach out to your classroom teacher or me if your situation has changed and you find that you are in need of a device. More information will be shared as it becomes available.
It is imperative that you and your child know Internet Safety Requirements and the District Policy. This is important information for you to discuss with your child: who are you communicating with, what are you saying in a public forum, what is shared and with whom, respectful tone, etc.
It goes without saying that no videos or audio recordings of staff should end up on social media or shared with other people. Discussions of other students or sharing of their work is not appropriate.
This information is in our Handbook located on our website and in Board of Ed Policies located on the District website. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me directly.
Information from Mrs. Shapiro
