CONGRATULATIONS SARAH
Sarah Ladley, senior, has been named a Dorsey Scholar at McDaniel College, earning a four-year scholarship, including full tuition, room, and board. The Dorsey Scholarship is the highest academic honor at McDaniel and is valued at more than $250,000. Sarah is one of six incoming freshmen for the Class of 2028 awarded a Dorsey Scholarship.
At West, Ladley is a member of student council, National Honor Society, and Spanish National Honor Society. She also has a passion for literature and writing and is involved in her school’s book club. During her sophomore year, she was selected to serve on the Superintendent Advisory Council through the Central Bucks School District. She also held a donation drive at her school to collect luggage, backpacks, and other items for a local foster care organization to advocate for those less fortunate. Sarah plans to major in psychology at McDaniel and wants to go into the counseling field, a career path, she says, is inspired by her mother who is a school counselor.
The Dorsey Scholars Program honors and celebrates outstanding and high-achieving students who will become future academic leaders and role models on campus at McDaniel. Dorsey Scholars have distinctive opportunities, including serving as ambassadors of the college. Students do not apply for the award but are chosen from the Honors applicant pool. The Dorsey Scholars Program is supported by a $6.7 million estate gift from 1891 alumnus Philip Henry Dorsey, the largest bequest for scholarships in McDaniel’s history. This box will be sent to the location of a natural disaster or refuge camp. It has the necessary supplies to feed, house, and clothe a family of 4-6 for two weeks.
All of the money contributed was raised by the profits from our weekly donut sales throughout this school year.

ATTENTION CLASS OF 2025 - SENIOR PORTRAITS
This upcoming year, Central Bucks will be using a new senior photographer, CADY. The process for getting your senior portraits taken will be slightly different than in years past. In order for your child to be in the yearbook, their portrait must be taken with CADY. This will be a very busy year for the students, so ideally, you'll book your CADY session this summer. Appointments will be made on the CADY website and students will go to their studio located in Horsham. CADY specializes in senior portraits with several different session options to fit every need. Their state-of-the-art studios have endless scene options, changing rooms, and a professional staff. Their weekend schedules fill up fast, so book early to secure your spot! Get your photos for your family, grad announcements, and the yearbook pose.
CADY's state-of-the-art studio is located at 300 Welsh Road, Building 2, Suite 106, Horsham, Pa 19044.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call CADY directly at 678-722-3449.
STUDENT OBLIGATIONS
Student obligations (i.e. fees owed from lost or damaged textbooks, library books, athletic uniforms, etc.) are reflected in the Parent Portal. Parents and students will be able to see any fees and obligations owed in the “Fees” tab of the portal. Check the portal often for any updates to the student's account. Obligations are due now!
Unfulfilled obligations may result in the loss of certain privileges such as student parking and the ability to purchase prom tickets.
* 10th grade students will now see '11th Grade Physical' listed as an obligation. This is not due until the end of the student's 11th grade year but can be turned in now to count towards this requirement. Click here for details regarding physical exams: 11th Grade Physical.

Laptop Breakage Information
Laptop Breakage
We have seen a rise in the amount of screen breaks for student laptops. Our policy covers for 2 broken screens per device. If your child’s laptop screen breaks 3 times, we will be required to send you an invoice for the repair and labor. The current cost for this is $200. Please remind your child to care for their laptops. Some simple steps to assist are:
- Use two hands when holding or moving the device.
- Use clean hands while using the laptop or iPad.
- Use only the provided digital pen or finger on the screen.
- Use only the power adapter that came with the device.
- Use a microfiber cloth to clean the screen.
- Keep device stored in the provided case. This includes traveling through the hallways, on buses, or anytime the device is not being utilized.
- Make sure nothing is on the keyboard, close the lid, and remove all cables if any are plugged into the laptop. Place laptop in your bag carefully.
- Be careful when placing your case on the floor. Keep the device off the floor so screens do not get stepped on by others.
Parents of Student Drivers
Our goal each day is make sure that all students, faculty, buses, and drivers exit our school campus safely. To ensure that safety, we are requesting that you please reinforce safe driving habits with your student driver. There have been several vehicle accidents that may have been prevented through safer driving practices.
- Drivers should maintain a speed of 15 MPH or less while driving on MacFarlane and in the school zone area.
- Drivers are to stop for pedestrians entering the crossing areas.
- Drivers are not to change lanes on MacFarlane
- Drivers should not be using electronic devices while driving.
- Drivers/Students should not be yelling from one vehicle to the next or getting out of one vehicle to get in another.
- Please try to limit the number of passengers in the car with your student. This will assist in being more attentive while driving.
Thank you for your assistance !
